Asia-Pacific Championship 2025

Asia Pacific Open Snooker Championship 2025 entries have been published. The event takes place at the Commercial Club, Albury, New South Wales from 31st March to 3rd April.

58 entrants in total the vast majority from Australia including familiar names Ryan Thomerson, Vinnie Calabrese and Steve Mifsud plus Jessica Woods who will also compete in the womens event which has an exclusively Australian entrants list. Bryson McKenzie is the sole participant from New Zealand in these championships but only plays the Under 21 event. 17 non-Australians line up in the main event. Five from Hong Kong aspiring to follow in the footsteps of Marco Fu, amongst them Fung Kwok Wai who finished 4th on the 2024 Asia QSchool Order of Merit. China sends four. Chang Bingyu, suspension completed, and Peng Yisong will be looking for a return to the main tour. Liu Wenwei and Li Chengjie, who also competes in the Under 21 event, both finished in the top half of the 2024 Asia QSchool Order of Merit. Nattanapong Chaikul and Lomnaw Ayuttaya from Thailand are engaged in both the main event and the Under 21 event. No sign of Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon who recently completed his suspension. The non-Australians are completed by three from Fiji, two from Singapore, and Digvijay Kadian from India.

Demolished sums it up.

Nine matches played nine matches won. 34 of 38 frames won. Wan Sin Man Nansen the only player to win two frames against him.

26 centuries in the event Chang Bingyu responsible for 10 of them including five of the eight 130+ breaks.

Welcome back on tour Chang Bingyu.

Excellent tournament for Chang Bingyu and clearly the best player, by far. Very interesting to see how gets on over the next two years but he must have a decent chance of making an impact.

Three Chinese winners in a row in the tournament so it's clearly getting a lot harder for Aussies to make it on tour. Calabrese and Thomerson seem to be the only ones not too far away from being good enough to get on tour.
