Possibly been beneficial to Wells that he actually lost to Adam Duffy at the Q School with all the practice on the Q Tour he's got since then.
yes, he's done well as a top up in a couple of big boy events this year, and has qualified for berlin.

Final tournament under way. The top eight on the Order of Merit are already guaranteed at least a play-off spot. At the end of the weekend we'll discover the Order of Merit winner who will be awarded a two-year tour card, and the composition of the 16 play-off places. As only £200 covers the top four this will be a testing weekend for all the leading candidates. If he's covering the matches Graeme Bott may well be right to ask who will hold their nerve.
See the draw and results to date.

ross muir makes it through to the quarter finals, and remains in pole position for the automatic spot. though fellow former pros daniel wells, billy joe castle, or martin o'donnell could still move ahead. castle is also in the quarters; mod and wells still playing their last 16 matches.
the play-off places look to be set now. peter devlin currently occupies the last spot, but will only be usurped if joshua cooper reaches the final, or if either simon bedford or saqib nasir win the tournament.
qf draw:
Ross Muir vs Liam Davies
Billy Castle vs Sydney Wilson
Joshua Cooper / Eden Sharav vs Steven Hallworth
Daniel Wells / Simon Bedford vs Martin O'Donnell / Saqib Nasir

Michael Holt only won 4 matches in 6 events. His standard seems to have completely fallen off a cliff. It doesn't seem long ago that he was comfortably a top 32 player.
Only 2 players under 22 in the playoffs, including Hamim Hussain (21) and 16 year old Liam Davies. If neither of them come through, it's hard to imagine the winner will make any impact on the tour long term.

Quarter-finals completed and it's now almost winner takes all. Ross Muir, Billy Castle and Martin O'Donnell are each a tantalising two victories away from earning a return to the professional ranks. A Steven Hallworth victory in this event's final would hand that tour card to Ross Muir.
The top 17 are now confirmed. Little movement during the final event. Jamie Curtis-Barrett and Michael Georgiou dropped out of the play-off places replaced by Steven Hallworth and, rather incredibly, Peter Devlin who won just one match this weekend. Florian Nüßle, who occupies first reserve position, will no doubt be rooting for Daniel Wells to maintain his good form on the main tour this season.

Ross Muir v Martin o'donnell in the final. Winner takes it all, as Abba might say.

the play-offs to for the last q tour pro card are this weekend in sunny darlington.
draw is here
https://snookerscores.net/tournament-ma ... f/knockoutdaniel well is almost certain to get a tour card from the one year prize money list off the back of some fruitful wildcard runs anyway. though if he wins this he won't need it, so some precariously positioned pros will be cheering him on for sure.

Jamie Curtis-Barrett would have been next on list if Sharav was to be replaced.

Three former pros in Muir, Carry, & Hallworth.
Nüeßle would be a new pro. He was the U21 world champ, but that doesn't offer a tour card due to the ongoing dispute between the IBSF and WPBSA.

He was playing at the crucible not that long ago so must be a decent player.
I would have preferred Nussell but no complaints
