Not to mention the £10,000 extra points if they win could be the difference between playing 3 qualifying matches to play zero qualifiers to get to the crucible.
Yeah, Dott is hovering around the 16th place in the rankings and although there's normally very little change in the rankings after these events - particularly at the top-end, Graeme would move into 15th if he secured the title. As mentioned, it could be the difference between making the Crucible automatically or facing a difficult 3 game qualifying series.

He is killing two birds so to speak. Some of the top 16, including Graeme were invited to the 2015 World Pool Championships so he is playing in the PTC as it suited him date wise.

Not unexpectedly, most of the players challenging for a Pro Tour place failed to beat their tricky 2nd round opponents. Honourable mention to Táng Jùn for taking Elliot Slessor to 4-3.
Good wins for Ross Muir, Cáo Xīnlóng and Sean O'Sullivan leave them for the moment 'in possession' of the first 3 places, whist Lín Shuài's defeat to Cáo Xīnlóng leaves him precariously in 4th. Noting that O'Sullivan may qualify via the European Tour and not need a place via this, so a glimmer of hope remains for someone - just not 100% sure who as a whole bunch of players are tied - but Guăn Zhèn, Méi Xīwén, Luó Hónghào and Táng Jùn are out, whilst Fāng Xióngmàn is still in - and I suspect the tie breaker may be best performance at the most recent Asian Tour event. Not sure though!
Any of a number of players further back in the rankings could come through and seize a place of course.

So a quick look at who could work their way to a Pro Tour place. The one player that could surpass Lín Shuài with a win is Fāng Xióngmàn, hoping to beat Zhōu Yuèlóng. One of the players who can match Lín Shuài on points, Zhāng Yǒng, faces a player ranked beneath him, Lĭ Yuăn (who is one of the players still needing two wins to get in the mix).
Two other prospects intrigue me - firstly Au Chi Wai from Hong Kong is one of a number of players who could match Lín Shuài's points total with one win, Sean O'Sullivan stands in his way. And Elliot Slessor is a mile back on the overall rankings and a little away from where he needs to be on the European Order of Merit, but two more wins here could give him a new Pro Tour card - needs to beat Graeme Dott and then possibly Joe Perry to do it ... unlikely but you never know!
The other players in a similar situation to Au Chi Wai and Zhāng Yǒng are Chén Zĭfán (up against Ross Muir), Niú Zhuàng (who, having beaten Matt Selt, now faces Cáo Yǔpéng) and Wáng Yŭchén (who plays Craig Steadman).
Two other players who like Slessor and Lĭ Yuăn need 2 wins to give themselves a chance are Mă Bīng (who faces Thepchaiya Un-Nooh) and Wáng Zépéng (who is up against Joe Perry).

Despite losing in the last 16 Sean O'Sullivan is in a great position to return to the Main Tour next season he is top placed amateur on both Asian tour and the European Tour and within the tour qualifications on both lists.

One aspect I'd forgotten about the Pro tour places is that one or two players who have been slipping down the rankings are here and picking up points, particularly Alfie Burden and Tom Ford.
Just a quick run through of who is where, with comments:
Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 2700 only needed is he slips outside Top 64 and misses out on Euro Tour place
Ross Muir 2200 will need this barring superb run at the final Euro Tour event
Sean O'Sullivan 1800 May not need this as may qualify via Euro Tour
Zhāng Yǒng 1700
Alfie Burden 1500 Protection against slipping further in the rankings
Tom Ford 1500 Protection against slipping further in the rankings
(One of Ford and Burden will leap past Muir, O'Sullivan and Zhāng Yǒng after the quarter finals)
Cáo Xīnlóng 1400 will need this barring superb run at the final Euro Tour event
Cáo Yǔpéng 1400 Protection against slipping further in the rankings
That leaves 3 players on 1200 points, and I think Lín Shuài would miss out as Chén Zĭfán and Niú Zhuàng did better at this final event - nothing separates them though, as they have the same record. To qualify they need the players above who might fall out of the Top 64 to stay in the Top 64, and to have Sean O'Sullivan grab a place via the Euro Tour.

It looks like Joe Perry has won this tournament, by defeating 4-1 Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the final.
Joe was lucky enough to avoid Dott and MJ Williams in his row, but a trophy remains a trophy even if it isn't much important in the rankings.

it could have been massive for Mark Williams regarding qualifying for the Worlds instead of playing 3 Qualifiers.
Regarding Perry he did beat the players that beat Dott and Williams so he was playing better than thoes 2 players.

I am a fan of Joe Perry as I have already mentioned and I am happy that he won this tournament. But I admit that maybe the things would be more difficult if he had to face a more experienced player like Williams in the final.
Anyway, the most important thing is that he made it while he was the favourite of this event (as I know he was the top rank player that participated in Xuzhu) and I hope that this will help his confidence for the forthcoming big tournaments.
