Bingham was brilliant in that match against Ding - I hope he'll win the tournament so that Carter can have a chance to enter the CoC.

Wish I could answer that! For certain Bingham respects but doesn't fear him, you can see that from his attitude, gets in there and gets on with the job. But surely Bingham these days is treating everyone that way?
Anyone know generally if the players themselves get an idea of why they do well or struggle against a particular player?

Oliver Lines has put himself in to a very strong position to get in to the Grand Finals he reached the last 16 in Yixing and now the Semi Finals here, that gives himself 3,500 points with only 1 event to go.
Top 8 on this order of Merit gets in to the Grand Finals end of March 2015.

My guess is that Ding doesn't play well against Bingham because he is afraid of him, and Bingham plays well against Ding because he knows that Ding fears him. So that might be why Ding has lost against him 5 times in a row and hasn't beaten him for 3 years. Or is there a simpler explanation about this?

Well there was a time when he seemed to be scared of Murphy but found a way to beat him.

Ding just won't win against Bingham, and this time it was 4-0 so I think there's a reason to it.
I didn't know that Ding used to be scared of Murphy; did he admit it himself or is it just obvious when you're watching them play?

It was obvious that he didn't play his normal game against Murphy, he was intimidated by his potting I think but eventually got his measure. Don't forget Bingham is a hot and cold type of player capable of turning over every big name in the game when he's buzzing, and his form has been at a sustained level over the last 12 months or so.

it does seem like Ding finds away to be scared of players on a consistent basis.
as one of the greatest players he shouldn't be scared of anyone.

How much audience members has nothing to do with the status of the event more to do with the location/prize of tickets.
a tour in any sport has bigger and smaller events you cant have a pro tour with about 8 World Championships that would distract from the prestige of the bigger events.

fantastic performance from Oli Lines he is now guaranteed to be in the Player Tour championship Grand Finals and if he wins today he will also be in the Champion of Champions as well pushing out Ali Carter.

I had imagined that the crowd watching Ryan Day's maximum was larger than that, lol.
Whoops, I forgot that the final has already started.

Amazing to think that a one-year professional could be playing in the CoC - has it happened before?

Bingo now 2-0 up against Oli Lines.
So, by now, what do you think are the chances of Oli winning?

Bingham is a class act and won a Asian Tour event before ......Oli has nothing to lose hes done extremely well and has outdone his dad by reaching a Pro Final.

No-ones suggesting doing that, just scrap the PTCs and hold more full ranking events.

I like the EPTCs; unlike ranking events, the players have to play 3 or 4 matches in one day and I find that quite exciting. And it's nice to have small ones as well as big ones.

Why?
i think at the moment tournament wise the Tour is perfect you need these feeder events that will give the likes of Oli Lines confidence going forward with his career.
