Yes he can hit it full ball but only so that the blue goes straight on and that means Selby and murphy was right.
The rule is (or at least definitely was) full ball, not both sides, unless they've changed it very recently. But the argument was about full ball, and you could quite clearly see you could hit full ball.
That hasn't been changed, always been full ball, the only instance it's both sides is when a fould is committed and the player doesnt ask (or can't ask) for the ball to be replaced because he has a free ball situation when he can't hit both extreme edges of the ball on.
This situation is different because Selby simply asked to be replaced, and Murphy could see the blue full on.
By definition if you cant hit the extreme edge of a ball you cant hit the full ball.

Still wondering how on earth Selby managed to win that 5th frame against Liang... the chinese player must have conceded is my best bet, after feeling ill or something similar.

Wenbo should get a suspension from the game for swearing at the ref. That sort of behaviour belongs on the football field. No room for it in snooker.

I think Wild's excluded everyone on 0 points and Brown hasn't won a match in any ET event this season (performance in main rankers doesn't contribute).

Well it seems it led to the forfeiture of the match. That's enough for now, although I agree that disciplinary action should be taken if he does it again. I'm guessing it would be a fine though instead of suspension.

Thanks, Skullman. I thought he bt. Ding in Yixing, but of course it was Wuxi qualifying. My mistake, not woken up properly yet.

From what I've gathered, Liang fouled a ball with his clothes and disagreed with the ref's decision and called him a 'bucking rubbish'.

Slowby has that effect on people, but Liang should have called him a rubbish on social media after the match, not out there in the auditorium. Rudeness from Liang
There are places for obscenities, and those places are called things like snookerisland .com.
