Yay! I'm working (shirking) at home on Friday. Can't wait. I've grown to love these best of sevens - I think the top players approach them slightly differently than a long match, more aggressively, so important to get a good start. Does anyone agree with this?

Yea

in Long Matches or matches with a interval you play to lead so get to 3 frames you know your 3-1 up at the interval but with Best of 7s you want to win 4-0 from the off because there isn't intervals that can change a match.

Personally i prefer Long Matches longer the Better because you have a lot of sub plots and intervals play a massive part in my enjoyment of the Sport.

But Best of 7s is what it is and its by far the best format to the PTC there's just no time for intervals, however i think they should have a Best of 9 or even 11 frame final.

Yes a Best of 9/11 frame final would be nice, and I definately think the PTC Grand Finals shouldn't be Best of 7s all the way. The semis could be Best of 9 and the Final itself Best of 11 or 13, the PTC Grand Finals format as it is, is way too short in my opinion.

I got a ticket for Friday. What a shame I can't see Selby...but nevertheless...what confuses me a bit, is that I read the information which says the entrance is at 10 am, but matches start at 7:30 german time.

yea When you consider the Winner of the Grand Finals gets £100,000 thats £15,000 more than the winner of the China Open best of 7s to play for that kind of money and lets not forget ranking points is way too short.

Skullman wrote:Wow, that's really bizarre. I didn't notice that they're not playing the draw in halves like they usually do. Quarters 2 and 4 on Friday and 1 and 3 on Saturday?

they have done that before especially when PL Was on the thursday giving players more time to get to the venue.

cant really think why they have done it this time though.

Yeah absolutely agree, longer matches are way better. I didn't really follow the PTCs till last year (because of the short matches I wasn't too keen) but now my snooker addiction is at such levels that I will watch any televised match anywhere! It's good to have this support group... er.. I mean forum :)

Technically winning the final of PTC Grand Final is only worth £62,000 because the runner up gets some money as well. But still it's mental for what could be as little as an hours work (considering 3/4 finals have been 4-0).

That's actually quite interesting, especially that the Masters gets you more per frame win than The Crucible. Though, of course, understandable considering that The Crucible is longer frame and The Masters is top-16 only.

89 Players in action today with only 17 going through to the main draw starting tomorrow.

Can Sean O'Sullivan replicate last weeks feat and book his place in the Grand Finals?
