Why all players had to play qualification? Why no seeds?

Barry Hearn decided that everyone had to play qualifying rounds since last season (2013/14) except for a few select tournaments, namely the Shanghai Masters, the Australian Open and the Crucible. All the other tournaments would involve all 128 players play qualifying from the first round.
Before that, 16 players would be seeded to the venue + 16 qualifiers. The qualifiers are also streamed online on WorldSnookerTV or qqzhibo.com, so do not worry that there is no coverage.

And they didn't really want to disrupt the old format in WSC which was there since 1980. It would be with strong opposition that they changed the World Champs to a flat 128.
