He is a wildcard, just he's by far the most notable one.

Kamal Chawla has recently taken Advani's top spot on the Cue Sports India snooker rankings, but isn't playing as he lost out in the final round of qualifying to Faisal Khan. The wild card matches are as follows (current Cue Sports India ranking in brackets after each wild card qualifier) :

Thepchaiya Un-Nooh v Neeraj Kumar (44)
Sam Baird v Brijesh Damani (9)
Lǚ Hàotiān v Dharminder Lilly (5)
Adam Duffy v Sumit Talwar (29)
Nigel Bond v Faisal Khan (4)
Rhys Clark v Pankaj Advani (2)

Ali Carter has had to pull out because of Visa Issues.

His Frozen seed of 13 comes to an end in May and is currently in 32nd place to be ranked after sheffield.

the rules states he wont be awarded the ranking points he gained by Qualifying for India even though its visa issues.

this is another massive blow to his career but hes ok and hes still fighting.

Winning his first round match won't be easy with the scrutiny and circus that will be surounding Ali this year in Sheffield.

Yeah and if he loses, it is zero points.

I am no fan of Carter but if you can't get a visa through no fault of your own any qualifying money he earned should be added to his ranking.

What a steal from Woollaston

67-0 down he made a break of 67 to force the re spot and after Yu tried to double the re spot he left it in to the center and Ben took it.
