He should 'on paper' be confident with a 7-6 lifetime lead over the Aussie! But in reality, he'll be very much the underdog.
I've never viewed Mavis as ranking-event final material, but here he is, again, on the verge....!

in Major Ranking Events Robbo leads 3-1
In PTC Events Davis leads 1-0
in Championship League Davis leads 4-2
Robbo won in the Masters Qualifying event in 2003 and Davis won in the 6 Reds World Championship Final in 2013.

If he gets to a ranking event final, he's ranking event final material.
If he doesn't, he isn't.

Then again, who would've said that Stuart Bingham was ranking event winning material before 2011. Look at his career now.

Robbo goes 2-0 up with an 80. Mavis needs to get moving if he's to stand a chance.

Mark Davis going about break building in a very amateurish way so even if he had potted that pink it was only a matter of time before he made a mistake.

Anyway, Mavis had another chance and misses a black. Nothing safe for Robbo, so looks like 3-0 is on the cards.

the likes of Ronnie or Ding would have played for blue in that break before tying the black up on the pink spot and work on clearing the black spot area

This match is going the way I thought it would. Mavis simply doesn't have the bottle to reach a major final.
