Most of the £3000 would go towards expenses and then you've got the jet lag and travel to deal with all when you're more than likely to lose the opening match so maybe it's better to pull out and use the money to live on and prepare for the next event.
I'm not saying that's what he's done, but apparently visa's aren't that hard to obtain for China and the thinking behind that scenario shows why the rule needed to be brought in. The prize for winning the first match is such that it is elevated slightly over other equivalent events to ensure the player has enough money to reasonably cover expenses to get to the venue.
That is how i see it what i dont agree with is Barry Hearn saying no exceptions because over a season there will be vastly different reasons to pulling out of a tournament.
There's a WPBSA Board Jason Ferguson, Nigel Mawer, Alan Chamberlain, Steve Davis and Ken Doherty that should be made to make a decision based on cases as they happen and Ursenbacher should supply evidence to a satisfactory nature if hes to receive his Points and Money.

How do people see John Higgins vs Anthony McGill going? John's not the player he used to be.

Cao Yupeng v Mark King seems like a 50/50 match, as well.

a bit of a surprise on table 6 with Michael Georgiou leading Marcus Campbell 3-0 apart from a opening 61 its been bits and pieces which in theory should favour Campbell

I must say, Steadman is a player that I think is quite underrated.

Michael Georgiou first season on tour in 2008/2009 was less than impressive, he played in 9 events and won no matches winning just 18 frames.
This season hes already won 2 matches and won 19 frames in 3 events during his 4-0 lead over Marcus Campbell.
