Angles McManus has had some good results this season against the top players, especially beating Judd 6-5 at the IC and now beating WN1 Robbo, both in deciders :hatoff:

Wonder when was the last time prior to this that he beat a WN1... must be ages ago.

Tony Drago just misses out against Fergal O'Brien, may have done enough on the Order of Merit but will have to wait and see who is in the Top 64 at the end of the season, lands up £17 behind David Grace, both of them and Martin O'Donnell will be hoping Barry Pinches fails to get the third win he needs to pass them all.

Angles continues his good run with a 4-1 win over Dott. Scuppers any hopes of Graeme making the Grand Finals unless he entered the last APTC and even then he'd need to make the final.

Somehow appropriate that Pinches/Burns should be into a decider ...

Sam Baird clocking up more money pulling him closer to the Top 64 with todays 3 wins, plus with a place in the PTC Finals, which he'll actually get more for than he's won today, puts him up to about 67th (66th ignoring Stephen Lee).

(Edit) Just to add, great win for Zhāng Āndá to take his effort into a second day.

Bottom half is wide open, isn't it? Highest ranked player there is Marcus Campbell who is provisionally ranked 30(!)

Chance for some players lower down the rankings to get some order of merit points, get a decent of amount of cash to get closer to that all important top64, and maybe even win a minor ranking event if they get to the final, although if one of Mags, Murphy, Higgins or Trump makes the final, they'd be favourite.

How about predicting which one will get knocked out in this match?. :-)

In the race for Tour spots via the European Order of Merit, who would have thought going into the final day the only players left who can advance their position would be Barry Pinches and Zhāng Āndá?

Pinches already in one of the 'likely' to qualify for a Tour card spots via this way at the end of the season, one more win pretty much guarantees him a spot, wonder if he'll be able to be competitive after the emotions of yesterday, with such a poor start in his first match and then a decider in the third match.

Zhāng Āndá would probably not get a Tour card with 1 win today (would take quite unusual changes in the Top64), but 2 wins would slot him in just ahead of David Grace with a fair chance of getting his Tour card.

Barry Hawkins needs some freak results today to retain the last spot in the PTC finals

He's likely to be pulling for Alan McManus against Fergal O'Brien - Fergals the only player who can knock Barry out of the PTC finals last spot with just 1 win today.

However, any player in the bottom half of the draw who is behind Hawkins will pass him by reaching the final and only Sam Baird is ahead of him! Worse still for Barry, the only player behind him in the lower half who doesn't pass him with a run to the semi-finals is Zhāng Āndá - so Barry needs McManus to beat O'Brien, and a Zhāng Āndá/Baird semi with Sam Baird winning it.

Edit Getting carried away here, realise it's not quite as bad as that as I miscalculated the points for the ones lower down! (Maybe time I woke up properly!) - Lawler, Burden, McManus and Campbell all need to reach the final, not the semi ... but the bad news for Hawkins is that in the other half, Milkins and King surpass him by reaching the semi-final.

First man through to the quarters (barring snookers) is Matt Selt with a 4-0 victory over Rob Milkins. He faces the winner of Judd v King next. Needs to get to the final to make it to the Grand Finals.

Fun stat: Maguire and Higgins have met in the last 16 of various tournaments in their last five meetings, six after this is over. Maguire has won them all.
