That's very unlike Selby. Is he feeling well?

Yeah, he's normally so
positive and doesn't play all this tippy tappy stuff.
Burnout must be doing his head in.

Good win for Martin O'Donnell. Think it puts him joint eighth with Drago on the list of players who fall off the tour if not PTC performances. Depending on how draws are decided his work could be done, but will want to win at least another match for extra security.

Last 128 drawing to a close, and it's not even three. That's ridiculously early for a PTC.

Great stuff from Murphy at the moment. Two back to back total clearances and the only time he's not potted a ball is the break off.

Looks ES/WS didn't anticipate the Smurph v Bingo match ending so quickly. Doesn't look like they have another match to show.

The already-slim chances of Liú Chuǎng , Jamie O'Neill and Adam Duffy getting back on Tour via the European Order of Merit disappeared with first round losses, whilst Tián Péngfēi's slim chance still alive (like Jimmy White, semi-final is what he needs).
Steve Davis beat Mike Dunn 4-2, Dunn would now need players above him on the Order of Merit to get into the Top 64 ans players below him on the Order of Merit to fall out of it. Or he'll have to make the Top 64 himself.

Looks like Judd v Steve Davis is on Table 1, but ES have decided not to show it, favouring reruns of Stevens v Taylor

So no miracle run for Jimmy White to reclaim his Tour place, got to do it the hard way by keeping ahead of the chasing pack for top 64 places now ...

Michael Wasley survives a scare against Gary Wilson (going from 3-0 up to a decider) to strengthen his grip on one of the 8 Tour spots available to non-top-64 players, whilst Martin O'Donnell takes a nice 4-1 over Mark Davis to put pressure on those close to him who are playing tomorrow.

Selt first man through to finals day. Meanwhile, Higgins could be trouble as he's 3-2 down to Elliot Slessor, who seems to scoring well from I noticed on live scores.

He was good against Ronnie in a World semi final not so long back. Had he come up against another player he may have been finalist again. He did used to have a much much better consistency though,

I remember that. He wasn't.
Anyway back to Stevens, I wasn't watching during his good years, but he seems to have decent spells every now and then. Probably the last time I saw him play well was in Haikou last year, where he beat Murphy, Trump and Robertson back to back en route to the final.
Even last season I would say that he almost always seems to beat the players he was meant to beat if we went by rankings. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like he can even keep that up now.

Live scores always cuts off at the end of breaks, but I don't think Gould made it as he was on 120 before the next refresh showed 2-3.
Meanwhile, Steve Davis forces a decider Judd from 1-3. I think Judd will be a bit peeved if he goes on lose it.

Yes, he was. It's just that you fail to acknowledge that O'Sullivan outplays anyone. Getting to a World semi final is a great achievement and Stevens was playing great. That's a fact and it's there for anyone to watch. You need to start learning that 2 players play a game, not just the opponent of the one you hate.

A shame Steve couldn't get through against Trump after coming back from 3-1 down.. Steve though can still roll back the years after a brilliant ton of 137 in frame 2, and at 56 still giving so much trouble to a young player like Trump
Hope this result boosts his chances of staying on the tour, would be such a shame a legend like Steve were to fall off the tour, though even if that happens he may still give it a go at Q School.

Might be significant that Martin O'Donnell kept ahead of Steve, were Steve to slip out of the Top 64.
Key factor for both is that they will both be passed by David Grace and Tony Drago if those players win their opening matches tomorrow. I think Barry Pinches passes Steve but not Martin if he wins two tomorrow, Pinches really needs 3 wins tomorrow.

That sometimes can happen yes, especially when one doesn't like a player and tries to devaluate his achievments, but in this case even me as a Ronnie fan agree with Skull because Matthew didn't play that great, he was good until about 5 all I think but then in that 2nd session Ronnie had one of his purple patches in the sessions at that Worlds (remember he had one brilliant session in each of his matches he won that year) and pulled away and Matthew couldn't catch him. I know you're going to say Matt couldn't catch him then because Ronnie put him under pressure, but in the following 2 sessions, 3rd and 4th, Ronnie didn't play that great and Stevens too started to miss many crucial balls which otherwise might have made things different, so in conclusion what Skull said after is probably a fair reflection that Stevens played good indeed since the World Open final.
And if we are to be ultra critical, in truth Stevens really hasn't been the same player he was since his Worlds 2005 final, since then he has had a few good results but not the sort of top form for a sustained period of time.
