I don't know why people are thinking Ronnie's going to be rusty. Hasn't he been playing all sorts of Legends events these last few weeks?

It's essentially like his season started at the Crucible, so he's already two months in.

I don't think anyone thought he was going to be rusty. But last year for example he wasn't in the mood at all in the only PTC match he played last season. You never know with Ronnie but he's definitely up for this tournament.

He could now. Since he met Dr Peter he showed great discipline and mental strength. Maybe Ronnie will win a couple of titles this season.

I haven't seen Ronnie ever play to a standard unattainable by the other top players, and if another player plays well they can match him. The only problem is that half the players good enough to beat him snake hiss themselves at the sight of him and the ones that don't can't play well all the time.

He earned his reputation by his terrific standard and achievements over the last 2 decades. In snooker psychology plays such a huge role. I think you underestimate that.

I'm just annoyed that so many 'top' players are so mentally weak.

It's fine for your late 30s/early 40s journeyman to be afraid, but when you have the likes of Mags, Ding or Judd who fall apart at the sight of players like ROS and Higgins.

The fact that O'Sullivan could take a year out (with the exception of the Simon Bedford match) and win the World title that easily, combined with the fact that O'Sullivan and Higgins have won 6 of the last 7 World totles when they should both be winding down, shows how fluffy bunnies the "standard is so high" talk is.

Or you could look at it the other way round. Shows you how exceptional these two are.

They certainly are exceptional. It's just disappointing how many other supposedly exceptional players there are, who simply fall apart when it comes to the crunch.

They are winding down. Higgins won in 2011 with his B game (maybe because he can't find his A game as consistently due to age?) and ROS's long game was pathetic in this year's World's.
