Ding played rubbish in the Welsh final but listening to him I think it's done him good and he's learned from it.
I'm getting a little annoyed at the bandwagoners banging on about Ding being rubbish at the Crucible and having a problem with Ronnie. Here's the truth:
1. In peak form every player on the circuit has a problem with Ronnie. Accept it, he's a cut above.
2. Ding came up against a guy playing out of his skin, this happens to great players, Hendry, Davis, ROS have all suffered the same fate in Round 1 before. Would Robbo, Trump, Allen, Selby have beaten Wasley in that form? Ding does not have a problem with the Crucible at all.
3. He's won 6 rankers, can people please stop saying he only wins tin pot tournaments. The China Open is tin pot? Get a grip.
4. Ding has been named heir to the throne by Ronnie himself, who said that Ding has the most complete game of any player.
5. There isn't a player in the game that would swap getting to the final of the Worlds and not winning it for Ding's prolific season, not one.
So please, cut the guy some slack and show a bit of respect. If you want to know why Ding is so good, this annus horribilis at the Worlds aside, check out Sonny's superb article on Ding's playing style: I can't remember the link and I wish we had a search engine on the island (though tagging everything would be a chore for someone I guess). Maybe someone can share the link?
