Big result for him. Ants had a decent lead in the ninth frame and arguably should have been 6-3 up at the end of the first session but all plaudits to Jimmy for keeping with him and eventually taking the win.

Would have been a midnight 20 finish had it started as the other sessions have at 7.
Think its sensible playing the sessions earlier if you only need two sessions, may be more of a break needed so 12 and 7 may be better but can see why matches are played at the times they are.

Realised Jimmy Robbo will play Gilbert next. They had a great match in the 2012 qualies, Gilbert winning that 10-9. Although Gilbert was the lower seed then (how much difference two years makes!) and might be under more pressure this time as a top 32 player.

I am glad Lines is out. He is a nice bloke, but an awful player. McManus will give Williams a match, Lines wouldn't have.
As for the main draw, I am convinced O'Sullivan won't win. He has never been as strong a favourite since 2005. I don't think such expectation will rest easily on his shoulders, and my intuition says there will be an unexpected winner this year.

So does mine but then I thought that about the UK Championship and it ended up being won by the World Number 1, with the World Number 2 being the runner up.

The Worlds are a different kettle of fish. The tournament is like no other in the calendar. I just don't see O'Sullivan winning this year. He is an awful price. I wouldn't back him at 3/1. I have been following snooker for a long time, and this is a year to go against the favourite more than any other.
