Well he nearly came back against Murphy in Haikou despite being "pathetic" in the first session. Maybe what he needs is to be a relative outsider at the Crucible. Mind you if he makes the final and faces Ronnie I sense heartache

What is it about snooker fans they are born pessimists.
yea lets just hand Ronnie the World Championship and have 2 week extended holiday to re charge the batteries.
Ronnie yea he is favorite but by no means unbeatable players has to shake off this cobblers about Ronnie and beat his bottom.

It's so easy to just say that like that but a lot lot harder to do if you're a player who is about to face him. Ronnie has earned that reputation, and yeah tell that to the opponents Davis and Hendry faced in the 80s and 90s

Not saying Ronnie is unbeatable by any means, but what you keep saying isn't as easy as you make it sound, it's a lot harder if you're the one who is about to have a match with him.

Mate if that's not easy then they are in the wrong profession...its what you play snooker for surely to take out the best or whats the point even trying if you don't believe you can beat him

Fair point Wild but we all know there are a lot of players out there who can't get out of their head the "Ronnie factor" and that adds massive pressure on them.
But sure they have to believe they can win no doubt otherwise might as well hand him another World Title.

That says more about them as players and hate to say it how weak standards bellow Ronnie is When Sonny says "Mind you if he makes the final and faces Ronnie I sense heartache" about the World no 2 player....
if he makes the Final and Faces Ronnie that means hes beaten 4 marmite players on the way.

The year that Selby has had his best run at the Crucible few would have expected him to line up in the final at the start of play. And even fewer when he was 5-0 down in his first round match. Ever since then he's flattered to deceive in Sheffield with perhaps 2009 excepted; , and back in 2007 and 2008, you'd be a little surprised if you were told that by 2014 Selby was still chasing his first World title.
I think the World Championship may be more competitive than people expect this year, and that is because it's widely seen as a race of the 16 in the bottom half to meet Ronnie. That means there are a few who will fancy their chances on making deep runs.

Today's results also confirm that Ricky Walden will be seeded 12th at the Crucible, that is Ding's quarter.

I can't remember the last time Ding, Robbo and Selby all went out in the first round of ranking event.
Ronnie is favourite obviously but Hawkins looked very good today and Murphy is playing incredible snooker at the moment. In these best of 7s they have a decent chance against Ronnie.

All ready to leap in there but just realised only two went out in the first round at the Crucible 2012
Remember it is a short format event, if anything its likely to be one of the other PTCs

I know what you mean. I was wondering multiple times in this match whether the live score froze...

The standout match there is obviosuly Trump v Murphy and Shaun may look to gain some sort of revenge because Trump had had the better of him in recent times.
Since the New Year and with that new fitness and diet regime Shaun has played some good snooker, back to his best again.

Things turn around quickly in snooker, don't they? It's not that long ago Murphy talked about retiring after losing heavily to Selby at the Masters.

Unless Holt and O'Brien are playing of course
Things certainly don't turn around quickly there.

He has said in an interview he wasn't talking about retiring but simply saying that besides playing snooker he'd like to do something else, and obviously he was misunderstood by many.

LOL that will be one of the TV matches tomorrow but I don't think it'll be as slow as this as Allen is in there against him.
Plus nothing will beat the grind that was Bairdy v Hamilton, almost 4 hours for a Best of 7
