If it goes to one, Selby won't win it.

Red ball game.

Just the colours needed for Selby to fall over the line...

...and he does it.
Seemed an easy enough clearance but Selby was very poor throughout. Looked like Marco was going to win after he started playing decently after 5-1, but Selby managed it despite not making more than 33 after the first frame.

That match was awful. What is it about Selby and having a lead?

He was awful after the first frame. I'm guessing he was just having an off day which coincided with an off session from Marco.

It was an awful standard, but I thought that made it more entertaining.

How come you aren't counting his Masters titles?

Looking forward to the next match, Smurphs over the past few months has shown some top class form in patches and seems to be gearing up for a WC charge.

Thats the thing Selby suggested he was Burnt Out at last year World Championship but the Burn out is taking a hell of a long time to clear up.
His form has not been great all season its testament to how great a player he is that he still makes finals and fairly consistent.
He is going through a bad patch period but he will get out of it maybe winning the World Open might kick start that.

Tbh he hasn't been anywhere near his best for the best part of two years, with occasional patches of decent form, usually in matches that don't matter. Even during his UK and Masters wins and attempted defences, you can count on one hand the matches where he actually played well.

Bit twitchy so far.
Probably a bit telling that it's been a while since either of them was in the semi final of a full ranking event, Murphy since 2013 China Open (11 months) and Allen here last year.

6 from 15 doesn't sound much better

Yea so citing Burn out when he didn't perform at the World Championship just didn't hold water it was a convenient excuse.

It's still 40%, so maybe sounds worse than it actually is.
And it's not like he was a big favourite in most of those finals... He has played David Gray, John Higgins, Stephen Lee, Ronnie O'Sullivan four times, Mark Williams twice, Judd Trump, Ding Junhui, Shaun Murphy, and Neil Robertson three times, so he couldn't have had it much tougher.

David Gray stands out as the weakest player there, but Selby was only a teenager then.

Selby played rubbish and Murphy is playing well but I'd still go for Selby to win tomorrow. If indeed he does play Murphy. I think he'd beat Allen as well
