for all the good work barry hearn has done for snooker it silly of him to let players decide which ranking event they enter

it different if a player pull out because of mitigating circumstances all ranking events should have an element of prestige but the ranking tournament is devalued when top players decide they dont want to enter then you get someone like bingham win and it class as a ranking title win in the record books

im not a fan of that

O'Sullivan is under no obligation to play. There is no point in forcing players to play if they don't want to. He would only turn up and lose deliberately in the qualifying round.

I don't know. I think, it's a pity really because he can really win this. I really hope, that he's gonna enter the China Open at least , even though he always plays more for fun than for winning the title there.

But Ronnie has not made any secret of the fact he will not play in everything.

Yeah I know and if he wants to skip a tournament , it should be the Haikou World Open. No doubt. But I still thought, that he is maybe surprising us. You never know with him.

I still hope, that he is gonna enter the China Open. Not impossible that.

Right thing to do re Ronnie from me personally. We get snake hissed off with him and IMO rightfully so when he does enter tournament which he doesn't have any intentions of competing in.

If he doesn't have any plans of going over to the tournaments should he qualify for the last 64, I'd rather he'd not enter, (as is his right to do so) and allow one of the amateurs to who it would mean a huge amount to reach the Last 64 in Haikou to have a crack at it.

Somebody like Bingham? You mean a semi-finalists in the recent UK Championships? He reached those semis by knocking Ronnie out of the tournament. Or are we talking about the Stuart Bingham who reached that Champion of Champions final knocking Mark Selby out on the way?

Don't you hate it when these top-16 players who are consistently getting to the latter stages of tournaments suddenly win events? It totally devalues it. <doh>

Surprised more players didn't skip this. If there's one main ranking tournament that you had to skip to keep fresh for later, it should be this one.

i think the China Open will be the one that might be skipped even maybe Robbo not defending?

The World Open is isolated with no snooker apart from CL and APTC for 7 days before it and 9 days after it.

I don't know why O'Sullivan didn't enter here as well. He may as well have treated the Barnsley snooker public to another display of 'silly season' snooker.
