The standard has been a bit low, hasn't it? Or it has been in this Ding match.

At present we got Ding playing so badly, he'd lose to anybody else. The fact that Parsons, who won't be used to the television cameras and isn't playing himself took a frame off Ding before the MSI really shows how poorly Ding is playing.

Ronnie in the first 2 frames didnt play much better, although in the last 2 upped his game a bit, but Clark too is missing many balls, particularly blacks off its spot.

Otherwise the rankings would be useless though, wouldn't they?

Well the way the draws work now is that the top64 are randomly drawn against a bottom 64 player. Assuming all the seeds make it through, the top32 would face a random 33-64 player etc. So rankings are mostly pointless but higher ranking means you'll face another top player later in the event.

Highest break: 14.

Oh boy. Embarrassing for the poor guy.

Of course he can play much better than that, but against Ronnie, World Champ, first time on TV, big event like the UK Champs, you get the picture.

Anyway, Ronnie did what he had to do. Next up Adam Duffy.

Anyway, frame and match won for Ronnie barring a snooker from Clark.

That sounds like a good guess. Also everybody wants to get that 100th max in snooker history.

Even more significant will be when somebody gets the 147th max :-D

Can't argue with that.

Also Ronnie looked reasonably happy in the interview, a couple of years ago he would have been furious about the way he played.

That's the main thing really SO, he would have been fuming about not playing his best. Nowadays if he doesnt play perfect snooker he doesnt get that bothered.

Is that why he's World Champion? Because of his frequent play last season? <laugh>

Despite Winning it last year he was way off his Best which was disappointing for other players that he still won it.
