Another free ball q
Apologies if this has already been answered.
A friend and I were playing a game the other day. I committed a foul on a red and left a free ball. He nominated black and snookered me behind it. I was pretty sure that wasn't allowed, but wasn't sure what to do next. In the end, as we weren't sure of the rules, in the spirit of fair play we replaced the balls and he played the shot again. He then potted the black and went on to make the highest break of the evening!
The question is, did my opponent commit a foul? If so, what should have happened next?
