Don't worry. Selby will win this event and finally become a
tinpot World Champion.
He's already World Champion. He won it last time.
Really?
I'm not a 6 reds snooker expert at all.
considering your earlier comment in this thread I would say you are no expert full stop

What I don't like is group-stage matches, and all that bullocks. It lessens the excitements. The two group stage Grand Prixs were amongst the worst tournaments they've ever had.
Still, at least they are best of nine. Which is good.
they are best of 7s this year
Steve Davis seems to be playing a best of nine.

This Steve Davis match is somewhat tedious.

Think its time to retire Stevie. Looks shockingly out of form.
Good to have such a diverse field though. One of the pluses of a tournament pick and choose system nowadays.
Rouzi Maimati has withdrawn and replaced by Marcus Campbell. Yipeee!

Hossein Vafaei Ayouri actually there, interesting to see how he does, beating Maguire 5 - 0 sounds a good - if surprising - start. Did Maguire get there late or something?

Just turned it on. Are those 12' tables? They look smaller to me and slower with slightly larger pockets than normal Star tables. Or are they essentially the same? Interesting stuff.

The camera angle is lower down so it squashes the shape of the table up. Looks like a regulation snooker table to me.

So, day 1 ends in this pointless event
for me, it's just a way for players to earn extra cash, no atmosphere at all there, and the 6 red format doesn't give that extra feel of fast furious snooker, it's dull and boring snooker for me... the only highlight of the day being this last match where Trump won 5-1...
I can see this event has replaced the World Cup in Thailand las season.. Personally, I much prefered that event last year, didn't enjoy that thing with the Scotch Double format, as I reckon a format similar to the World Doubles in the 80s would be better, enjoyed the teams representing various countries very much. That event last season made much more sense than this piece of junk event... Oh well, suppose they can't please please all of us....

The World Cup is every 2 years alternating with this thing apparently.
I Agree it doesn't make exciting Snooker its just Going through the Motions nobody really cares who wins or loses last year in the World Cup getting a win was like giving blood they wanted it so badly.

Also, tables are VERY heavy and damp. Does not make moving the ball easy. The same for everyone though I suppose. It will favour those who have power in their cue actions, not so much the touch players.

I saw a bit of Trump's match. He had two total clearances - one of 70 and one of 75 (which is the maximum you can score with six reds and blacks and all the colours.)
Bit of a pointless event but I might watch some more of it - if I've nothing better to do.
