Finally managed to get internet connection working. Ben played ok, his opponent couldn't half pot the long ones but kept losing the white. Taubman and Bond was a good match which ended up in a magnet frame in the decider after Bond dollied the pink towards a corner. Alex twice potted a red but snookered himself on pink and in the end the pink was surrounded by reds and Bond ended up being the unfortunate one who potted the pink. It didn't cost him that much because he had a guilt edge change a bit later on with the last 3 reds all out in the open but he missed a sitter to middle which could only be down to pressure and Taubman ended up qualifying for the main event.

Ben plays Luca tomorrow morning at 9am.

yeah Witz would love to watch the Ben v Luca match streamed rather than the Williams one... but I suspect World Snooker will let us down and show the latter instead

Jack really needs to do something about this its just not good enough.

The Ben v Luca match would've been worthy of gracing any live stream. The first 5 frames were all top quality frame winning break efforts. In the first Ben played what appeared to be a good shot around the angles for choice of reds but landed behind the yellow which was just off the side cushion, either side would've been perfect. Anyway he played safe and Luca knocked in a long red and made an absolutely stunning clearance to go 1-0 up.

In the second frame Luca got in again with a great long red and missed the 14th black on a max. Some of the shots he pulled off were pretty breathtaking and in the end he finished straight on 2nd to last red down the rail so had to play the black stuck to the side cush which he rattled. Earlier in the break he was hampered by a red and still managed to slam in the black which was airborne when it hit the pocket, and the white zipped twice across the table to land perfect on the red. The best shot though involved using the blue to screw back down for black, I though he was going to go in and out of baulk and I think nearly every player would've gone that route. Had to be seen to be believed.

Ben got in with a long red in the next and made a cool 67 break (I think), then Luca again got in with a tough shot to nothing red and ran out that frame for 3-1. In the next Ben got in and had a kick on the 2nd red which stuck them up for Luca. I thought game over but then Luca went into the reds and didn't land on one and took on a tough one to middle which he missed. Ben then made a solid frame winning break with pink and black tied up throughout.

The last 2 frames didn't maintain that standard, the balls went messy and Luca bashed a few and appeared to be losing his cool a bit. He had a chance for 4-2 but missed the pink and after a long tense safety exchange Ben slotted a great long pink to take it to the decider.

The last frame was nip and tuck the whole way. Both players had chances but lost the white and in the end Luca played a slow roll up to blue on side cushion which he appeared to have dollied, but it literally just reached and ended up touching leaving Ben a really t0ugh lay. He was so close on his 3 cush escape the first effort, missing by a millimeter but was called miss and when he hit the red pushed it over the corner. Luca didn't win the frame from it though but built up a lead and when Ben missed a long red to green pocket which would've been a match winner, it came back down the table and landed right over the opposite corner with an easy layout for Luca to get over the line.

Great match.

yea it was obviously a better match to show than Williams v Patrick but im becoming pretty adept at predicting how people at WS would allocate stream tables

I'm wondering if it's about time that Jack got out of the shadow of Judd Trump, and away from the environment of Grove Snooker. It doesn't seem to be doing him any good, there. I think he needs to move on, if he wants to progress.
