Selby isn't going to give any frames to Hawkins, he's going to make his opponent work for it.

Selby uses it as a form of gamesmanship alot of the time. He's clearly trying to make sure Barry doesn't get into any rhythm early on.

but isnt sport meant to be how to gain a mental edge

Why how and what did you get that from?

he worries too much on how hes perceived by the public instead of getting on with his own game.

hes become a fast player to the detriment of playing the right shots...he rushes shots plays any old rubbish at times just to be quick.

Yep! so your saying he has become a little self conscious and a bit reckless in his shot selection.

Well at times yes,But he does suffer as well at times.

if Dott had played like that in 2006 he wouldn't have been World Champion i have no doubt about that....in the semi finals he would have played in to Ronnies hands.

he just needs the right balance in his game and who knows he could win again.

Nadal is one of my least favourite tennis players. He gets away with absolute murder sometimes, he really does.

I'd say Selby is snooker's version of Rafael Nadal - Both are grinders.

being called a grinder is a compliment
