Isn't bad? I couldn't think of a better opponent right now.

Now it's up to Ronnie to perform ...

Who would have been a better opponent for Ronnie?

Campbell never beat him, he's even older while being relatively inexperienced playing at the Crucible.

Yeah remember that match, and guess you're right.

So, the matches I got are;

Mark Williams vs Michael White.
Barry Hawkins vs Jack Lisowski.
Ricky Walden vs Michael Holt.

Not moaning about that. :hatoff:

I mean seriously, whats the chances? Its incredible really how many times they can draw.

Probability to draw someone: 1/16 = 6,25%
Probability to draw someone 2 years in a row: 1/16 * 1/16 = 0,39%

Also Fu and Stevens it's 2 consecutive years as last year Stevens hammered Fu 10-3.

Somehow don't think that'll be the case this year and reckon it will be a lot closer.

one of the attacking players....Opening up a frame making it easy for him.

The problem with the attacking players is that they tend to score well. I expect Ronnie to struggle at the start of the match, so I don't mind some scrappy frames to settle down.

Also: an attacking player like Liang Wenbo gave him a real scare in 2010.

Marcus Campbell isn't the toughest opponent Ronnie could've faced. Though I'd give him more chance of beating Ronnie than Ali Carter. I'd give somebody who had been dead for ten years more chance than Ali Carter.

Looking good for Ronnie to get to the Quarters, at least.

From the BBC Website;

SNOOKER
World number one Mark Selby: "I've got Matthew Selt in the first round of the World Championship.

"Any draw is tough, but it's Matthew's first time at the Crucible so, hopefully, I can stamp my authority early on in the match and put him under pressure!"

Or in other words, Selby reckons he'll win.

Ronnie might be rusty for the first few frames but he will take the match 10-6 at a maximum!

What do people think of Selby's chances of winning?

Might be nice to see him take UK, Masters and Worlds in the same season.

True.

But I still don't see a qualifier who would have been easier (except maybe Selt).

Being from Leicester I would love him to win it, but if he faces Lisowski in Round 2, that has the potential to be a cracker, unless Selby tactically beats him with ease, but he also has Allen & Ding in his section, two of which could claim the title themselves.

The way the draw has set out, I can't see past Robertson, his quarter is the easiest in my opinion. I didn't think much of the top half seeds wise, but now I think it's the best half in terms of matches, Carter v Woollaston, Bingham v Baird, Higgins v Davis, Murphy v Gould and Stevens v Fu all have the potential to be close, especially if Woollaston and Baird turn up in their respective matches.

In my books he's the favourite this year, closely followed by Robertson.

But I don't think I would like to see that happening. 2 majors are enough in my opinion, he shouldn't get too greedy :john:

That's a good point. Considering the draw, Robbo has to be the tournament favourite.

I would like to see Ronnie win it yet again - but I think he may have to get past Trump first.

If either of those two wins, I'll be happy.

The only potential threat for Robertson up until the Semis, will most likely be Maguire. Other than that it should be plain sailing.

Both sections of the top half are the most difficult to predict in my opinion, we just don't know how Ronnie will turn up, while in his little section, Carter, Bingham and Higgins can all pose a threat, while even the qualifiers in Woollaston, Baird and Davis could make the second round, even one could make a shock run to the Quarters.

While the other section, sees the likes of Trump and Dott not playing particularly great, while Murphy has had better seasons and faces Gould which could be tough, Machew might even have another good run if he can get past Marco.

So wide open is the top half.
