then shut your cake hole - cos some people do actually support the game - not sit there moaning about people having a pint when they want to :-)

Re: World Championship 2013 Roll call

supporting the game also means paying for Liveworldsnooker.tv and watching the game.

Going to pubs doesn't support the game because it does actually stop other people getting a ticket to go to the venue if that what they wants to do <ok>

Re: World Championship 2013 Roll call

me, Smart, Case, even Sonny at times (unless hes getting his free off his bumchum Jason Ferguson these days :limp: ) pay for tickets for the whole experience, not just sitting like Simple Franklin does from dawn till dusk on his morbidly obese derierre watching snooker.

They really should sell a set number of reduced value tickets that only gain you entry into the bar / bookies area on top of the actual arena tickets IMO, would give fans far more options.

It suits World Snooker better if nobody at all is in at the snooker cos they aint spending any money when there sat at the snooker.

Re: World Championship 2013 Roll call

True true. It's about the whole experience. Good snooker, Banter at the bar & bookies and a night on the lash with other snooker nuts! It's hard to sit through every frame, 3 sessions in a row is a lot.

That being said, I will guarantee you I will see more snooker than Witz :pal:

I reckon i will watch a decent amount of snooker this year

Arrive Thursday

to be fair i will prob get tanked up and if its a nice afternoon, prob sit in the square getting snake hissed, check into hotel at teatime then come back for some Thursday night chaos in the Cruicible bar area

Prob hit Graduate that night for a bit, then dive to club quite late on id reckon then a 3am Indian with Thorne again :D

Friday, drag myself out of bed, straight onto drink in hotel room then snake hissed by lunchtime, no tickets for the Fri night as me and my mate traditionally go AWOL on a Friday and just go on a Sheffield pub crawl from mid afternoon onwards ultimately ending in the REFLEX.

Sat ill be in the bar / bookies / arena most of the day and prob just dive to REFLEX later on at night after the snooker.

Sunday ill turn up and tell SMM he can shove his snooker up his jacksie, then ill depart back to Jockoland

I arrive Friday afternoon ish, have tickets for the 6pm session. I still haven't booked a hotel yet, will prob end up in the travel lodge again unless something better comes along.

Anyways, plenty of pints will be called for on the Friday and Saturday night :hatoff:

Smart you are there the middle weekend? What about you Sonny?

If your extent of a Crucible trip is purely going to eat breakfast in hotel then watch wall to wall snooker from 10am to 11pm then go home to your hotel room to sleep then repeat the process again the next day then your a sad bastard and should have stayed at home watching it on the tv so real fans and lovers of life could attend

Re: World Championship 2013 Roll call

Postby Witz78

for me the Crucible trip is about all of these factors equally

CueZone
Pubs in and around Tudor Square
Watching the Big Screen
Bookies Area inside Crucible
Bar inside Crucible
Going inside Arena to watch the snooker
Sleazy Nightclubs
late night Indian restuarant
Hookers
Napoleons Casino
Pub Crawl up West Street
Celeb banter
Catching up with fellow fans
Getting snake hissed
Betting

its clear that some folk would not get the same out of a trip away for a few days as others would....

I have totally enjoyed my trips to Sheffield, always memorable - never dull.

There is much more to it than sitting in your seat like a statue.

The whole experience is not mythical. You are robbing yourself of so much if all you do is turn up watch snooker then go home. There are people to meet and chat and have a laugh with.

There are things like chilling out in the bookies / bar, there are chance meetings with pros, there are decent hotels to relax in.

I think a lot of folk that I speak to view it as a holiday with some quality snooker to see too.

each to their own

and i no doubt would get a lot out of the crucible bar or pubs after the matches however what i wouldn't do is buy a ticket then not use it to it max but there's much to get from a sheffield holiday with snooker to boot and i do hope to god to example that very soon.

over the years ive had troubles for different reasons getting to venues and in particular Sheffield not been there since 1997.

Re: World Championship 2013 Roll call

final post on this from me......

without fans there is no sport, if fans buy a ticket they can choose to watch 1% or 100% of the action - its their call.

Witx for example supports snooker more than anyone on this site, with s/fan a close second. They both visit venues all over the country and are true supporters.

Buying livesnooker.net does not beat or come close to spending the time and money by going to the venue.

<ok>
