Both finalists had some close matches to get to the final - Cahill with 4 - 3 wins over Scots Joseph McLaren and Ross Muir, Carty with 4 - 3 wins over Israel's Shachar Ruberg and Switzerland's Alexander Ursenbacher.

well for next season they have to find 30 new Professionals in Total
Q School=12
PTC= 8
so that leaves 10 places up for grabs from somewhere.

(Slight danger we're going off topic here) - aren't there 1 or more places for competitors from the amateur events that were held alongside the PTCs. Can't remember how that was going to work (if World Snooker ever said!).
Hopefully todays winner will get one of the places available, although both players are fairly young (Carty 16, Cahill 17). Both did ok without being outstanding in PTCs they entered this season.

Unless I'm mistaken isn't Cahill a relative of Hendry? Might be someone else...
Regardless well done to him, and I hope he gets on tour due to this, and if not, it might be a confidence booster for Q-School.
