He beat the (12 year old) Russian Ivan Kakovsky 3 - 0 (69-41, 59-18,69-62). In a way I'm more impressed that he took a frame off Bulgaria's Georgi Velichkov (age 17!)

There are those names again - Slessor, Harvey, Sharav, Castle. They are all heading in the right direction towards a snooker career. How is Ross Muir doing?

Only defeat for Muir was a close 2 - 3 loss to Poland's Grzegorz Biernadski (whose recent form has been really good), so pretty good signs for Muir too.

Some matches still being played 'of significance'
In Group A Sam Harvey and Ryan Cronin are through, but the remaining places depend on the result of Dominik Scherübl and Pawel Leyk - Leyk needs a win, if I have the tie break order right (frame difference, frames won, frames lost) Scherübl just needs 1 frame - Leyk is 1-0 up. A 3 - 0 win for Leyk puts Vilius Schulte of Lithuania through. I assume but am not sure that the next split would be head-to-head as 3 - 1 for Leyk would put Scherübl and Schulte on 12 frames won and 13 lost, and Scherübl beat Schulte in their match.

Georgi Velichkov is 2 - 0 up on Jaroslav Tichý - the winner goes through from Group B (Joel Walker, Mateusz Baranowski and Alexander Gauss are all through already)

Not sure what's going on with Group A, in the past hour Denislaw Popov's results have been removed, not sure if by intent, would change the situation a bit I think.

Not quite sure when this afternoon / evening the last 32 matches will be played, but the match streamed live appears to be Ross Muir of Scotland against Bulgaria's Dimitar Mehandzhiyski (who was a surprise winner against Germany's Simon Lichtenberg in the last 48).

Interesting the relative youth of the last 32 - well under 21 - 3 fourteen year olds, 5 fifteen year olds, 3 sixteen year olds and 6 seventeen year means that a majority are under 18. Could be seeing some of these names for quite a while.

... and Sharav takes it 4 - 1
Some nice play there.
Sam Harvey through 4 - 0 against Israel's Maor Shalom, Shane Castle too much for Ross Muir with another 4 - 0, likewise Michael Leslie against Grzegorz Biernadski of Poland. More of a surprise, Duane Jones beat Joel Walker 4 - 0 too.
Ireland's Josh Boileau 3 - 2 up on Poland's Mateusz Baranowski, Scott Donaldson 3-2 up on Michal Zielinski, and Jamie Clarke is 2 - 1 up on Malta's Aaron Busuttil.

Mateusz Baranowski beat Josh Boileau 4 - 3, Jamie Clarke won 4 - 2 against Aaron Busuttil and Scott Donaldson beat Michal Zielinski 4 - 2.
So Poland's Mateusz Baranowski is the only non-British player left in (and - with Shane Castle - one of two 14 year olds) as the quarter final stage is reached. Baranowski's match against Michael Leslie of Scotland will be the streamed match.
Duane Jones plays Scott Donaldson, Jamie Clarke plays Shane Castle and Sam Harvey plays Eden Sharav in the other matches.
Edit: Just realised, if this went to seeding, there'd be 3 Scottish players in the Semis.

Leslie 3 - 1 up on Baranowski in the streamed match.
Shane Castle coasted to a 5 - 0 win against Jamie Clarke.
Duane Jones and Scott Donaldson tied at 3 each, Sam Harvey 4 - 1 up on Eden Sharav.
