Junior snooker at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club

Postby Tim Dunkley

JUNIORS can play in competitions for 37 days during the school summer holiday at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club, near Southampton in Hampshire.

The 11th running of the under-18 Rotary Summer Cup, with WPBSA coach Tim Dunkley, kicks off on Monday, July 24, and ends on Friday, September 1.

That’s 30 weekdays of snooker-based activities in the fully air-conditioned club.

Daily cost is £9. Experienced players and complete beginners catered for. Hours are 11am-3pm. No pre-registration. Non-members welcome.

As well as a small daily prize and trophies for the overall winner, runner-up and third place, there are six weekly trophies to play for.

And a new season of our long-running and nationally acclaimed Saturday morning junior sessions starts on July 22.

Look at our Facebook page for some of our amazing success stories. We are a breeding ground for junior England internationals.

Boys and girls aged five to 19 learn to play snooker in a safe and friendly environment.

Under-13s from 9-11am and Under-19s from 11am-1pm. New players and beginners are welcome. Beginners work with WPBSA coach Tim Dunkley until they are ready to play proper frames.

Cost is £6 for club members and an extra 50p for non-members.

No pre-registration required. Just turn up and sign in before the start time. There is no commitment to play every week. The unique format we use accommodates regular and occasional players.

Trophies awarded at the end of the 20 weeks but minimum attendance for an award is 15 weeks. Junior and full-size cues are provided where necessary.
