International Challenge Cup Cookstown NI October

OVER TWO DECADES LATER AND INTERNATIONAL SNOOKER IS BACK IN NORTHERN IRELAND

This October sees the return of International Amatuer Snooker in Northern Ireland when the 'International Challenge Cup' will be played in the 'Pot Black Snooker Club' in Cookstown.
The opening ceremony for the event will take place at the Pot Black SC, home of the Northern Ireland Captain and former professional snooker star Patrick Wallace on Thursday the 13th of October and play will be held on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of October.

Northern Ireland, previous winners in 2014 will welcome the current holders the Republic of Ireland, France and Scotland to Cookstown for what will be a fantastic weekend on the 'Green Baize'.

Speaking about the event Patrick Wallace said 'It is great for Cookstown to host this prestigious event and we want to welcome the teams, their families and friends and the organisers to Cookstown for the International Challenge Cup. The local community, sponsors and sports fans are right behind this tournament and we want to welcome everyone to this historic moment in our sport, bridging a 20+ years gap for International snooker in Northern Ireland'

The event will feature four teams of eight players from each country. Each country will have four Senior players and four Masters players and each country will play each other over the two days of play.

There is a special welcome this year to Scotland who play in their first ever International Challenge Cup.

Before, during and after the event there will be full press coverage of the event. Derek Kiely is the Media Officer for the International Challenge Cup and will provide coverage ahead of the event and on both days of play. There will be a Twitter feed throughout the event and there will be regular updates and hourly reports emailed out to all media outfits and sports contacts in Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland, France and Scotland.
