147s in amateur and pro-am events

Postby roy142857

Neil Robertson's brilliant 147 today being the 98th in Pro competition got me to wondering about what 147s there have been in amateur competition, and by pros at Pro-Am or other national events. So not particularly local leagues, practice matches or exhibitions. The list I've come up with by digging into memory and doing a bit of research (no work today but horribly rainy, so had to keep occupied!) is below, with references where I've found them. I'd be interested to know what other people can come up with - I'll post a couple I'd like to know more about separately.

EDIT - several contributions to the list added by others in posts below and added into this by myself - greatful thanks to everyone who has contributed on here or by PM

147 breaks by professional players in Pro-Am or open national competitions

2003 Swiss National Open
The event was held in Zofingen, Switzerland. The players included Jimmy White, Ian McCulloch, Nick Walker and Bjorn Haneveer. McCullogh made a 147 in frame 2 of the final against Belgium's Haneveer (see below for Haneveers 147 in the same year). Notably the final was very tight, Haneveer took it 5-4 on the final black. https://web.archive.org/web/20041001021 ... Breaks.htm and https://web.archive.org/web/20041001021 ... dFinal.htm

Ken Doherty had his first 147 in the Cue Club Pro-Am at Killarney, Ireland in 2007 in a match against fellow Irishman Mark Tuite in the quarter finals. Clearly on a high, in the semis Doherty knocked in breaks of 123, 135 and 136 . http://www.rte.ie/sport/snooker/2002/12 ... -dohertyk/

And two more by Brecel in 2014, in the Last 48 of BBSA national event 5, 11-16 March 2014 against Dirk Coppens (Tournament was played at both Riley Inn, Genk and Play Ball, Hasselt - don't know which Brecel was playing at), http://www.bbsa-snooker.be/nl/tornooien ... -ranking-5 and then in the 2014/15 season Brecel made a 147 during the Last 64 of Belgian Ranking Event 2 at Re-Spot Snooker Club in Kuringen on 8th November 2014 against Wim Ruyts (http://www.bbsa-snooker.be/nl/tornooien ... -ranking-2)

Dave says it was an English Pro Ticket Tour event at Leeds against Daniel Ward and he can't remember the date. But I see the information is already there in the link :redneck:

Been looking at previous years Suphan Buri Cup results and found that Alfie Burden had his 3rd 147 in the space of a year at the 2010 event (I'll edit the list above to add it in). One of the others referred to is the English Pro Ticket Tour event already listed, the other was also at a Pro Ticket Tour event - anyone know more details of that?

Edit - Also adding in a Ronnie O'Sullivan break from 1991.

Luca always makes these maximums at the Belgian events. There was also this one, where he almost made back to back maxes http://www.bbsa-snooker.be/nl/tornooien ... -ranking-5

Found some others on snooker.org:

Switzerland
2003 Swiss National Open
The event was held in Zofingen, Switzerland. The players included Jimmy White, Ian McCulloch, Nick Walker and Bjorn Haneveer. Ian made a 147! Some nice pictures. (German/English)

Belated thanks for the contributions above, all been added to the original post.

Also added a Pro-Am 147 by Ken Doherty in 2007 I've been told about (and found a link for) and found who Saleh Mohammed's opponent was with his 147.

Adding 147 by Hong Kong's Chan Wai Ki in 2005 (or 2006) in a tournament in Malaysia - Wikipedia article on him says 2006, but mentioned in an article about Mo Keen Hoo as being the 2005 Century Break Snooker Center Open in Penang .. anyone got more info?

Re: 147s in amateur and pro-am events

I can dig out the details if anyone is interested, but Issara Kachaiwong made one in Thailand. The Chinese players Lyu Haotian, He Guoqiang and Yu Delu have made 147s in tournaments in China. Yu Delu also made several in money matches, in fact he was something of a legend on the Beijing hustler scene. Unfortunately he didn't put away his gambling background...
