The has-been Thai has the intelligence and the humility needed to adapt his game and his mindset to his current abilities and that's why he's still winning matches when people don't expect him. When Hendry will do that, he will win more again. Also what the German Masters defeat has shown is that Hendry is vulnerable under pressure. Very much so. He wasn't as long as he believed that he could boss everyone, but now that self-belief is gone and it shows.

I dont know either of them well enough talent wise but Craigie looks the more composed and assured, although that does not always matter.

His desire went 10 years ago, he talked about how burnt out he was. By the time he got it back it was to late, you can't dip out and just expect to get it back.

Also anybody that thinks Hendry hasn't adopted his game is having a laugh, look at videos of him 15 years ago compared to now and he is nowhere near as attacking.

Allen 3 - 2 down to Robbo. If he loses in this round he has a real uphill task of making the final 24.

Of course Hendry has adapted his game to an extend. He had to and it's quite recent. But you can see plainly that he hasn't adapted his mindset. He doesn't want to play this way and that's the problem. He doesn't enjoy it at all.
He could go and retire, should he wish, he's wealthy enough, but he doesn't because in truth snooker has been and still is his whole life.
And so he's currently sitting "in between 2 chairs" as we say in French. He hates what snooker is doing to him and can't live without it.

Well we all know how close he was to retiring last season and had he lost that final frame to Perry at the World’s I don’t think he would have carried on.
I believe he still enjoys playing the big matches and the one coming up against Maguire will be proof of that. It’s hard to let go, he has been playing competitively all around the World from he was 16. It looks like he will have a career in media after so this could well be the last season he puts himself through the pain of defeat, if you like.

You recovered from your earlier twitter swearfest yet?

Hendry playing well, Higgins playing like Higgins. Should be 4-3 Higgins in 3 frames time.

if hendry would play like this with this tempo more often he wouldnt be strugling outside the top 16.

Re: Players Tour Championship 10 !!!

Such a shame for Hendry, played really well but Higgins didn't give him a sniff of a chance in the final frame.

Re: Players Tour Championship 10 !!!

Ugh, so close Hendry. The split on the final 3 reds was a killer, unfortunately any positives he might have been able to take with a 4-3 win have turned to frustration.

Re: Players Tour Championship 10 !!!

Postby Andre147

The stephen hendry from, say, 15 years ago, would have done that clearance with his eyes closed, though it was not to be this time around. The split of the last three reds is what cost him, but, nevertheless, John played flawless in that last frame, playing some beautifull shos on his way.

In the end, Hendry got a warning from the ref for conceding the frame when they were still points on the table for him to win, though he left the red in the jaws of the pocket, so he just wanted to storm out of there as soon as possible. <cool> :john:

if hendry going to carry on performance has to take priority over results he played John Higgins playing pretty well and pushed him close...
