2016 Chinese 8-ball World Championship

Postby kolompar

Results, streams here: http://alison-chang.com/2016/03/12/2016 ... mpionship/

There was qualifying, a double elimination stage 1, and a single elimination stage 2. Chinese and International players separated until stage 2.

Half the snooker top 16 was invited for stage 1, while some other pros and amateurs played in the qualifiers. Surprisingly, Selby, runner-up last year, isn't playing.

Irani amateur Soheil Vahedi and Chris Melling made it throught the qualies.
Ding and Trump lost both their double elimination matches.
Liu "Chendry" Chuang looks to have switched over to Chinese 8-ball, he was runner-up in the Masters earlier this year.

Higgins, Williams, Robertson and Dott are currently playing to stay in.

Williams wins  Beats the current world 9- and 10-ball world champion's little brother Ko Ping-Chung 9-8.
Higgins lost 9-7 to former snooker pro Mario Morra's son John.
And Robertson didn't show up for his match <laugh>
Dott's match hasn't started so might be on a streamed table.

Looks like it was just the live score not working, Dott beats Chang Yu Lung 9-8.
Soheil Vahedi also through.

At the women's event Kelly Fisher and Anastasia Nechaeva (coming from the qualifiers) are the snooker related names through to the next stage.

Shi Hanqing won 21-20. He was also a snooker player, and qualified to the main tour in 2013 from the Asian Tour, but he only played AT events then.
Youtube user genipool14 is uploading some of the matches, if anyone's interested.
