World Billiards Champs split again, plus other key dates

Postby roy142857

After a short period of the IBSF and WPBSA running a shared Championship, this year will see separate Championships. Not sure what is behind the split, although I know some IBSF member states were concernd by the Championship repeatedly being held at Northern Snooker rather than moved around, and concerns over the lack of womens and under 21 championships.

So - the IBSF World Billiards Championships (timed and 150 Up) will be helf in Adelaide, South Australia between 18th and 27th September, and will include Under 21 and Ladies Championships.

I'm not sure whether its deliberate by one party or the other, or just a coincidence, but there is a clashing WPBSA main ranking event, the New Zealand Open, running from 24th to 27th September - unless they have co-ordinated so all the senior mens events at the IBSF Championship run in the first part.

Meanwhile the WPBSA World Billiards Championship will take place between 16th and 28th October at Northern Snooker, Leeds

Other major WPBSA events will include the LiteTask UK Open on 15th and 16th August at Northern Snooker, the Bradford Open on 5th/6th December at Cue Gardens, Bradford and the Scottish Open January 30th/31st at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
