Somebody tell me about the World Cup Of Pool.

Postby SnookerFan

I notice this is being televised on Sky Sports starting on Tuesday.

I don't know much about pool, other than I suck at it when I've tried it in the pub.

How prestigious is this tournament? And more to the point, how entertaining?

It's in the Mountbatten Centre. A venue I have enjoyed visiting for the Snooker Seniors. It's a fairly easy train ride away from me, and there are some good pubs in Portsmouth.

What is the format of this tournament? Is it worth my attention?

Personally I don't find watching 8-ball very interesting, kind of like watching snooker with no one making better than a 32 break.

I can watch hours of snooker without any great characters involved because the game of snooker entertains me. I don't have that ability with 8-ball, gotta have a "character" playing to keep me amused with their antics. Earl Strickland is great for that.
