What is Scotch Doubles please?

Postby roy142857

On the events listing for the South East Asian Games in December one of the cuesports is 'English Billiards Scotch Doubles'. I've seen an 8 ball pool game that was alternating shot and I think was Scotch Doubles? Anyone confirm that? And is that what in being played in the SEA Games, or (more likely) is there a billiards version of the same? (I'd guess no reason billiards can't be played that way and presumably is)

Scotch doubles is a alternate shot format where you take one shot, your partner takes the next and so on.

I believe true scotch doubles involves a mixed team of female and male players but ATM it's considered any two person team alternating shots.

Thanks for confirming that - still surprised to see both a competition for 'English Billiards Doubles' and 'English Billiards Scotch Doubles' in this. No Women's competitions for either billiards or snooker (despite 7 medal competitions), just 9 and 10 ball pool for the Women, which I think's a shame ...
