They are both runts. They should be banished from any commentary box.
I would be happy to sacrifice thorne provided taylor goes as well
fair compromise

I would be prepared to sacrifice my girlfriend as long as Taylor goes as well.
Come to think of it, I would be prepared to sacrifice my girlfriend, even if no one else is sacrificed!!

Yes, that would be acceptable.
Thorne doesn't usually bore on about golf but he is such an irritating know it all. And there is something effeminate about him. Mind you, he was on Strictly Come Dancing so he is probably a bit light in the loafers.

Thorne must stay
hes the best there is
he has the best voice for it
hes funny when he goes off on one
and he doesnt just waffle for the sake of it
plus his betting insight is top class
plus i like to count him as a personal friend having had numerous encounters with him over the years, be it in bookies, casinos, pubs, Indian restuarants or even the ballroom last wknd

I love it when he says a player has played the wrong shot and you can hear the annoyance in his voice if they then clear the table

Thorne should be executed. When he and Virgo get together in the box they are like those two old runts in the muppets.

the annoyance is usually cos hes got a bet on them
hes even admitted so
last year was funny at the Worlds
he was nowhere to be seen most of the tourny and we asked Angus Statto Loughran where he was and was it right enough that he wasnt doing any bets this year, and Angus said hes in turmoil, hes lost a fortune on the games hes been commentating on

did he wager on the robbo v gould match
he commentated on the final session of that and was rather pro robbo

i never heard the commentary but funny you mention it cos we stood at the bar / bookies counter with Angus that whole final session and he came rushing down telling us we had to get on Robbo when it was only back to 6-11, think when it went 8-11 i finally got on it when the odds were still 11/2. Angus made a killing that day as did we, i suspect Thorne also did

from my personal experience with all the pundits and commentators here goes on my opinions
THORNE - top guy, always up for a laugh with the fans and happy to chat and once you know him half decent he opens up with plenty of useful information
PARROT - a total CDL, no time for the fans, a smug git
DAVIS - a legend off the baize too, total gent and always approachable
TAYLOR - a bit of a CDL, always in a rush and little banter, suppose hes used to charging folk for pics at the Legends events haha
VIRGO - bit of an oddball tbh
STUBBS - Ray was a bit up himself but decent enough to talk to
ROB WALKER - decent guy but a bit of a geek and nothing much in common to say to him
FOULDS - top bloke and always happy to talk snooker
EVERTON - mention you hate the Beeb and you cant get rid of him, top bloke
HALLETT - not that much crack out of him to be fair
RISHI PERAD - decent laugh but passing banter all ive had with him really
DOHERTY - not really interested unless youve a skirt on haha
ANGUS LOUGHRAN - the best of the best, a friend of Thornes and a friend of mines, weve struck up good banter with him the last 3 or 4 years at the world and now count him as a friend. Been to the football and racing as his guest a few times over the past year and always great to get the betting inside scoops from.
HENDON - id rather talk to Snookerfan than approach the King of the CDLs

I woud choose to watch a match between Carter and Maguire with Terry commentataing, ahead of a match between O'Sullivan and Higgins with Taylor commentating.
Where are the 'The Griff is God' tee shirts?!!

doherty had lost his cue
Parrot had lost his hence he told Thorne not to bet on him
so Willie went and stuck 35k on Doherty

Willie got an erection when he heard about Parrott's cue!

In one famous incident, Thorne bet £38,000 on a match involving John Parrott, betting that Parrott would lose as Parrott had lost his personal cue and had to use one supplied by the venue. Much to Thorne's dismay (not least because he was actually commentating on the match), Parrott recovered from a slow start to win, only worsening Thorne's debts and sending him into bankruptcy for a second time.

Harsh.
Willie Thorne is a idiot and snooker needs idiots which is why I like him.
I also like Dave Hendon... good guy who talks the most sense of all comms.

Hendons a swat, a geek, a nerd, who thinks his word is the gospel. Holts comments have further opened my eyes now
Thorne is a walking legend and an icon of the sport. If the old guard are phased out, then yeh get shot of Virgo and Taylor, but good ole Willie must stay
Hazel needs to move on, i remember her from her BBC Scotland heyday in the late 80s and early 90s and she needs to accept her days are numbered at the sexist and ageist Beeb
