An interesting session of snooker, not a great standard but decent enough. Trump should win comfortably from here. Allen hasn't quite got enough gears to win big events like the UK.

The tournament hasn't been of a great quality, and I blame the shortened format partly for that.

The worst part of the tournament has yet again been the BBC pundits. All they seem to be doing is trying to exaggerate the standard the of play in order to promote the game more.

Furthermore, they are now trying to elevate Trump to some kind of legendary status because he has won anything of note. It is as though they believe snooker needs a new poster boy to replace the deteriorating O'Sullivan. Whatever Trump wins in his career will be regarded as an underachievement because of this hype inflamed by messrs Parrott,Davis, and Taylor. This overhyping of the standard of play, and of certain players achieves nothing, other than to raise the bar to an unachievable level. I guarantee this theme will continue year on year, until viewers expect a maximum break every other frame.

Less is more.

Trump is hit or miss and more often than not he hit but if he starts to miss Allen has the balls to take him out.

if the BBC pundits sat there and said the quality was poor theyd hardly be doing the sport any favours so can harldy blame them. More people would be complaining if they did that

yeah they do what they have to do in a job.

True. But he's never been in a ranking final before, and Judd has just given him a body blow.

I'm probably being disrespectful to Allen, but that's how highly I regard Judd's chances.

Trump's performance this week has been very patchy. Some good play against Maguire at times, but Trump had no pressure on him there as Maguire is just a Glaswegian punchbag these days. Luckily for Trump no has played well enough to beat him.

Having said that, the even money quoted for Trump to win the World Championship by 2020 after this year's Worlds looks like a good price right now.

Hes had to beat 3 top players Ronnie, Maguire and Robbo en route to the final

whereas Allens only had to beat one top 16er en route and that was only Ali "Honest Guv, im retiring" Carter.

But for you to slate Trumps form, well, to be honest theres been no-one really playing great stuf this week. Walden in patches and Maguire up until the 7th frame v Ben Johnson prob the best form this week.

ill be totally honest the result of this match has me genuenly stumped i dont see that 2 frames as a advantage really Allen Well capable to beat Trump say 5-2 in a bo9 match and lead 8-7 in this one.

if you dont see that 2 frames (and 4 on the spin) as an advanatge then doesnt that go against what you always argue the magic of a longer format match is?

it like your just dismissing this afternoons session as if it didnt happen and is irrelevant

Yeh wild's basically saying that Allen only has to get to 7 frames to win the match and thus is effectively advocating BO13 in a UK final :grrr:

if allen was leading you would say it wasnt important :gag:

So depending on who you want to win will decide what spin you put on the score line

Allen seems to be better when behind like v ronnie in the worlds 9-7 down so he is far from out of the match ;-)
