Looking at that list, there are some really dull matches in prospect. But Ronnie v Davis should be interesting and Hendry v Maguire.

McLeod v Higgins should be a good cure for insomnia.

ive gone for Selby v Day.

Day by all acounts was on fire yesterday in disposing of Burnett...if he carries on in that vein then that match will be on fire.

Carter vs Milkins Big fan of Carters cue action and Milkins is an exciting attacking player
Selby vs DaySelby on form, Day on form - obvious choice

:gag:

You weren't asked to pick the three most boring matches.

yeh its a totally uninspiring round 1 draw

just so many journeymen who cant perform at venues against better players among the qualifiers.

infact heres my assessment of the qualifiers.

MCLEOD - journeyman, boring, zzzzzzz
HENDRY - legend, glad he qualified to add more prestige / interest to event
DAVIS - same as Hendry
DALE - at least hes interesting and his games can be unpredictable
MAVIS - will never be top 16, when the going gets tough hes exposed
CAMPBELL - zzzzzzz Moyles wanabee is so boring and also a bottler
SELT - i dont like Robbos bumchum, hes just comes across as a slob and i dont rate him at all, a 1 trick pony
FORD - a poor mans Walden or Holt, not cut out to compete at a high level
JOGIA - great guy and a laugh but hes a journeyman and likely gonna be well out of his depth at the venue
WALDEN - promised so much but has failed to deliver, needs to bounce back soon
LINES - a kinda joke figure almost IMO, epitomy of deadwood that Harrison refers to
YAN - hopefully a star of the future, thank god one up and coming talent qualified
MILKINS - zzzzz one of the On Z, sorry On Q brigade with his pink waistcoat, find him dull
GUNNELL - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the King Kong Bundy of snooker
FU - class act and too good a player to slide down rankings surely
DAY - another decent player tho i always classed him as a bottler when it came to the crunch

Selby v Day is the stand out match really. The others look a bit dull

You people vote for your favourite matches and after an considerable amount of votes we have selected the MATCH of the first round.

Also "Match of the First Round" sounds better than "Matches".

Easy isn't it?

It's a shame you didn't point this out when you originally posted the poll. :john:

Actually, for once, I agree with you on match of the first round. Granted in your opinion Judd's match is always match of the first round, but I'm a bit of a Dale fan and think he can be good on his day. He can also be a complete flid on his day. So, it'll be interesting to see which Dale turns up. If he doesn't, it could quite quickly descend into a Judd arse-kicking. But best of 11, who knows?

Also good to see Hendry and Davis qualify. Davis especially.

Okay, they'll probably both get spanked. But, like Witz says, they'll add credibility. And I'll be looking forward to those games.

To conclude this thread:
The Islanders have decided that Ronnie - Davis is the match of the first round.

Although I probably would have voted now for Higgins and Ding. Two crackers right at the start, they don't come much better than that.
