Exactly whats needed
Group A Table
1 WALES (1) 3 11
2 EIRE (8) 3 9
________________
3 GERMANY 4 9
4 PAKISTAN 3 7
5 EGYPT 3 4
Fixtures
Egypt – Pakistan
Wales – Republic of Ireland
Variables
By my maths, Germany and Egypt are out
Wales require a 3-2 defeat or better to qualify for quarter-finals
Eire require a 4-1 win to secure quarter-final place
Pakistan will qualify if they defeat Egypt 5-0 unless Eire win 4-1 against Wales, should Eire beat Wales 5-0 then Wales will go out.
Group B
1 MALTA 4 12
2 CHINA (4) 3 9
_________________
3 AUSTRALIA (5) 3 9
4 THAILAND ONE 3 7
5 UAE 3 3
Fixtures
United Arab Emirates – Australia
Thailand 1 – China
Variables
UAE are out
Should both China and Australia win at least three frames tomorrow then Malta are out with China and Australia qualifying for the quarter-finals
Thailand 1 must win at least by 4-1 against China, and hope that the UAE defeat Australia at worst by the same margin
Group C
1 NORTHERN IRELAND (6) 3 11
1 ENGLAND (3) 3 11
___________________
3 BELGIUM 4 8
4 INDIA 3 5
4 BRAZIL 3 5
Fixtures
Brazil – India
England – Northern Ireland
Variables
England and Northern Ireland have qualified for the quarter-finals. The winner of their match will win Group C
Belgium, Brazil and India are all out
Group D
1 SCOTLAND (2) 3 10
2 HONG KONG (7) 3 9
________________________
3 AFGHANISTAN 4 9
4 POLAND 3 6
4 THAILAND TWO 3 6
Fixtures
Thailand 2 – Poland
Scotland – Hong Kong
Variables
Afghanistan are out
Scotland require a minimum 3-2 defeat tomorrow. Should this result occur then Hong Kong will win the Group and Scotland will be second
Should Hong Kong lose then a Polish 5-0 win will see them qualify for the quarter-finals, should HK lose 4-1 then Poland need a 4-1 win, a 5-0 HK loss will see Poland qualify with any win over Thailand
Thailand must win 5-0 and rely on HK beating Scotland 5-0
Straight forward isnt it ;)

I agree with Witz, although they BOTH need to win 4-1 or more.

3-2 puts them both onto 12 points along with Malta but cos Malta have lost 3-2 to both Australia and China, then Malta would go out.
Would be funny if Australia crash out to see what GJ thinks of Robbo exiting the competition at the expense of the "Mafia clown"

Apparently Drago said "Barry Hearn has made me feel 25, and not 45".
I knew Barry was a dark horse.

Have a sneaky feeling Aussie will slip up.
What does everyone thin the NI-England score will be? 4-1 England in my opinion.
Selby beats Allen
Carter beats Greene
England win doubles.
Selby best Greene
Carter loses to Carter

China and Australia need 3-2 wins. - both beat Malta, and thats the first tie-breaker. If both won 3-2 it would be
1. CHINA 12
2. AUSTRALIA 12
3. MALTA 12

Cant see Australia losing to the whipping boys but Thailand A has a chance of a 3-2 win over china ok a slim chance but not impossible with the doubles and Wattana in the team.

who would have thought it
"In Afghanistan snooker is a new game but we have a lot of talent. Our association supports us and we have a lot of young players playing from 10 in the morning to 8 in the evening with more than 100 clubs in Kabul, the capital.
100 snooker clubs in one Afghanistan city

whats stupid about that format is that you can play a team you were in the same group as before the final

I'd disagree with that, as it could mean top 2 playing before the final.
Have
1A v 2B
1B v 2A
1C v 2D
1D v 2C
And have the Winner of the first quarter playing the winner of the third etc.

Will Carter and Selby get an open top bus around London if they bring the cup home?
It would be a similar day to when England regained The Ashes in 2005.
They could take it in turns holding the cup aloft for the adoring masses.
