Why do you think Masters is better from 2011 onwards?

I know you dont like the Masters, but it's peak years were definately at the Conference Center, I'd say early 80s, up until 2006, which ended the Conference era with one of the best finals ever.

This is about formats, no more, no less. Masters matches went longer from the mid-'90s, and they got rid of wildcards in 2011. Also, the ranking system improved also, so the 16 who qualified were generally stronger.

Yes you're right in that regard, so given the format I'd agree with you.

Wildcards at the Masters were a daft idea; primarily designed to help Steve Davis or Jimmy White get in when they were in and out of the top 16.

Having said that, my first view of Ding was when he was given a Wildcard at the Masters and it was clear he was something special, beating Joe Perry just six months into his pro’ career and taking Stephen Lee to a decider.
