Despite going down to a decider, not a particularly good match, the level wasn't great and Gilbert should have won with a few frames to spare.

Yeah, I was going to say that.

A classic match isn't just about both players playing to a high standard all the way through. It can be exciting for different reasons. And, in my opinion, it been a good while since a match had had this emotion. I remember watching the end. Gilbert was legitimately heartbroken, and I felt disappointed for him too. The post-match interviews were more about comforting him than they were about interviewing.

I was watching the match at my parents, and I had dinner ready but we all delayed it just to watch what Higgins and Gilberts said afterwards. I don't always bother with seeing what players have to say, but that was as gripping as the match was.

Higgins couldnt have played worse but Gilbert still bottled it. Still good drama in the end though.

I was so gutted for Gilbert, he had a 5-6 frame lead at one stage but as soon as Higgins caught up you know there was only one winner! I remember the last session was on a Saturday afternoon, I was at work and was watching it on my phone, the deciding frame was probably just before 6pm and I finished at 6pm, my battery was very low now anyway so I missed the deciding frame :( got back from work checked scores and saw Higgins won the decider :-(
