It may be to do with navigation.

I just go to active topics and just follow the topics.

Yes I use active topics button too.

To start a thread, click on forum index, find the right area and then click new thread

OK Guys this thread has proberbly explained why new members cant be fussed.

I think the jokes and banter on this forum are exactly why people post here. Without it, nobody would be posting here. It's what makes the Island great. The new members who don't post thing happens on every forum.

Agreed.

I do think that running jokes and callbacks etc can make a forum feel a bit insular and harder for new members to break through, but they’ve existed on every forum I’ve visited or posted on.
