12. 2006 World Championship first round, frame 19 of 19: Nigel Bond 55-48 Stephen Hendry
Bond had to pot the match-winning black twice. He potted the final black for a 14-point frame win, only for the white to go in-off. Somehow, he held himself together to win the re-spot.

Nigel Bond could so easily have been part of our discussions about the best players never to have won a ranking title. He was doomed in this decider against John Higgins – only to get the snooker he needed.

With stuff like this and his famous comebacks, Bond’s been involved some pretty sensational snooker moments for someone you’d think was an ‘unremarkable’ player.

With his longevity on the tour he’s the kind of player you can’t help but respect.

11. 2002 World Championship semi-final, frame 31 of 33: Peter Ebdon 62-61 (56) Matthew Stevens
Ebdon flirted with disaster on his way to his only world title, here more than ever. His pink before the colour clearance is one of the great Crucible pots.

Technically the best 147 Ronnie O'Sullivan has ever made. The shot to free the red from the pink is arguably the greatest shot of all time.

Straightforward cannon

One of my favourite commentary moments, that.

“He was almost straight!”

I always think it’s from the 2007 maximum against Selby.

You could tell Ronnie knew he’d played a blinder with that shot. He looked so pumped.

10. 1984 Masters semi-final, frame 9 of 10: Kirk Stevens 147 (147)-0 Jimmy White
The first maximum at The Masters, and the last for 23 years. The most famous maximum away from the Crucible, and the high point of a career that went downhill far too quickly.

9. 1998 Masters final, frame 19 of 19: Mark Williams 63-56 Stephen Hendry
The beginning of the end of Hendry's aura? His miss on the respotted black was more difficult than many give him credit for, but it was the kind of pot he'd have nailed in his prime years.

8. 1986 Classic final, frame 25 of 25: Jimmy White 57-55 Cliff Thorburn
The first of Jimmy White's 10 ranking titles, and surely the most dramatic. Dead and buried in the decider, he laid the snooker he needed against the most stubborn of them all – with just pink and black left. Stunning.

Having been 15-7 down, Ebdon was on the verge of reducing his deficit to 16-15. Graeme Dott was falling apart, his dream of becoming a World Champion destined to become a nightmare.

6. 1994 World Championship final, frame 35 of 35: Stephen Hendry 82 (58)-37 Jimmy White
The most heartbreaking frame ever played? Certainly for us Jimmy White fans. Leading 37-24 with the reds perfectly set, he missed a black off its spot – his last ever shot in a World Championship final. Hendry even teased us by nearly missing a pink with the rest.
Nearly.

Arguably so, though Ronnie himself has said that he prefers his maximum against Ding at the Welsh Open because of the left-handed deep screw he had to play...

5. 2006 Masters final, frame 19 of 19: John Higgins 64 (64)-60 (60) Ronnie O’Sullivan
John Higgins is the greatest player of all time for hitting counter-clearances, but hitting 64 from 60 down in the deciding frame of a major final? Including a cross-double? Against Ronnie O'Sullivan? Astonishing.

Allen had extended the match by potting the final black... or so we thought. The white rolling in-off and bringing an end to the match was one of the most bewildering Crucible moments.

One of the funniest moments in sports history. Was reminded of it this year when Man City had a injury time winner in the Champions League only for it to be VARed.

It looked like Trump was on his way to extending this final when he got to snookers required. But an easy missed pink proved very costly. Higgins went on to play for a snooker on the final pink, got it, sank a double, and won the match.

I wasn't sure what to make of Higgins at the time but the way he finished that frame when it looked like going 17-16 was brilliant.

Maybe the biggest genius moment of his entire career. Even more than the 5:20 minute maximum.

Virgo described it perfectly, it was as "though he hit the balls and they disappear."

And he was fat too.
