37. 2011 World Championship final, frame 33 of 33: John Higgins 62-61 Judd Trump
It looked like Trump was on his way to extending this final when he got to snookers required. But an easy missed pink proved very costly. Higgins went on to play for a snooker on the final pink, got it, sank a double, and won the match.

36. 1996 World Championship quarter-final, frame 24 of 25: Ronnie O’Sullivan 70 (57)-53 (52) John Higgins
Signs of the great rivalry to come. Ronnie O'Sullivan punishes John Higgins for not finishing the match off, and went on to win the match himself in the next frame.

A controversial conclusion to a Crucible classic, with Swail fuming afterwards. Here's the Irish Examiner's description of what happened at the end:
"The 21-year-old Chinese star was 27 points ahead with 27 remaining when he failed to get out of an apparent snooker by hitting the cushion first.

"Swail had the white replaced and Liang proceeded to hit the target ball directly, prompting claims from the Irishman that the referee had failed to replace the white in the correct position."

Swail’s reaction to this and his implication that Liang cheated have always annoyed me.

The reason refs ask the seated player if they’re happy with the placement is to avoid this exact scenario.

If you nod your agreement, you can’t then be snake hissed off if the balls haven’t been replaced correctly (if they have, I’m not convinced this was the case in this match).

That sort of thing always pisses me off.

The strangest frame of one of the great near-comebacks. Featuring a refereeing decision that caused quite some controversy.

Forget the 2014 world final, this match is the Ronnie loss that ‘hurts’ me more than any other.

All that effort to come back only to lose because of an outrageous pot from Higgins in the final frame that he had no business taking on!

32. 2015 World Championship final, frame 31 of 33: Stuart Bingham 80-56 Shaun Murphy
Having been pegged back to 15-15 from 15-12, Stuart Bingham was under immense pressure here, and his fairytale story looked to be fading. But he refused to buckle in this one-hour frame, the longest of the match.

29. 2007 UK Championship semi-final, frame 17 of 17: Ronnie O’Sullivan 147 (147)-0 Mark Selby
O'Sullivan was nowhere near his best in this match, looking vulnerable throughout against his nemesis. Then he went and hit a maximum in the decider.

28. 2003 World Championship semi-final, frame 27 of 33: Ken Doherty 63-62 Paul Hunter
The first big sign of nerves from Hunter, missing an easy frame-winning yellow. Doherty cleared up with 27 from 26 behind to win his third frame in a row, from 15-9 to 15-12.

27. 2019 Tour Championship semi-final, frame 19 of 19: Ronnie O’Sullivan 62-60 (50) Judd Trump
Trump looked like he had withstood a superb O'Sullivan comeback – and then he missed a yellow, hitting it hard instead of rolling it in. He left Sullivan off the hook, and Sullivan obliged.

26. 2003 World Championship semi-final, frame 28 of 33: Ken Doherty 60 (60)-52 Paul Hunter
Having already thrown away the previous frame, Hunter looked set to steady the ship. But he left the door open for Doherty, who made a break of 60 to reduce the gap to 15-13 having been 15-9 down.

24. 2005 World Championship final, frame 22 of 34: Shaun Murphy 64-57 Matthew Stevens
Stevens was under pressure here, his 10-6 lead reduced to 11-10. But it seemed Murphy had left him off the hook following a marathon frame when Stevens had an easy blue for a 12-10 lead.
But Stevens decided to play the blue left handed instead of using the rest. He missed. Murphy levelled the match.

23. 2010 Masters final, frame 18 of 19: Mark Selby 78-67 Ronnie O’Sullivan
O'Sullivan, desperate to get over the line after Selby had won consecutive frames, took on a very thin cut on the green, missed, and Selby got back in to level.

22. 2018 World Championship final, frame 33 of 34: John Higgins 65 (65)-63 (63) Mark Williams
It looked like Williams had secured his third world title having made a break of 63. Higgins, like the champion he is, kept his dimming hopes alive with a frame-winning 65.

21. 2010 UK Championship final, frame 17 of 19: John Higgins 71-69 (61) Mark Williams
Williams had his third UK title wrapped up – or so he thought. Higgins got the snooker he needed, continued his comeback from 5-9 to 8-9, and went on to win the match.

20. 2002 World Championship final, frame 34 of 35: Stephen Hendry 62-52 Peter Ebdon
Ebdon was gifted a glorious chance for an 18-16 win and his first world title, only to miss a dolly of a black and leave Hendry in to force a decider.

18. 1992 World Championship first round, frame 13 of 14: Jimmy White 147 (147)-0 Tony Drago
Jimmy White becomes just the second person to hit a maximum at the Crucible. It was the only maximum of his glittering career.

16. 1992 World Championship final, frame 24 of 32: Stephen Hendry 65 (64)-53 Jimmy White
Possibly the greatest break of Stephen Hendry's career. Had White won this frame, and he should have, he'd have had a 15-9 lead heading into the final session. Instead, he left the door open, and Hendry showed his mettle.
His final red and the following brown showed remarkable composure.

15. 1996 British Open final, frame 17 of 17: Nigel Bond 71-69 John Higgins
Nigel Bond could so easily have been part of our discussions about the best players never to have won a ranking title. He was doomed in this decider against John Higgins – only to get the snooker he needed.

13. 2008 World Championship quarter-final, frame 20 of 20: Ronnie O’Sullivan 147 (147)-0 Mark Williams
Technically the best 147 Ronnie O'Sullivan has ever made. The shot to free the red from the pink is arguably the greatest shot of all time.
