Gambling firms agree sport advertising ban

"The Remote Gambling Association (RGA), which includes Bet365, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power, has struck a deal to stop adverts during live sports broadcasts."

Not sure how this will impact snooker. Says horse racing is exempt because of the commercial importance to it's viability. Aren't all snooker tournaments in the UK linked to a betting company somehow? Or do you think it just means adverts in-between frames? Does go on to talk about clubs with shirt sponsors will be most affected.

Does that count sponsorship? Or just the adverts they televise in convenient television breaks.

If Snooker loses gambling sponorship, that's the tobacco problem all over again.

Would we end up with more UK events sponsored by Chinese companies? rofl

"The deal follows extensive talks between firms - also including SkyBet, Betfred, Betfair, Stan James, Gala Coral and William Hill - to ensure no adverts will be broadcast for a defined period before and after a game is broadcast."

It doesn't say during a game but this feels written with football in mind. Snooker constantly has betting ads with europsport and ITV.

"The proposal is similar to those made by the Labour party and, importantly, will include any game that starts prior to the 9pm watershed but ends after that time." Get ready to move from 7pm evening session to 9pm
