I was 13 when I was at Edgbaston in 1981 and England were playing Australia on what turned out to be the final afternoon and the crowd were singing 'Michael Row The Boat Ashore". It was in tribute to Mike Brearley. What a cricket captain Brearley was. The Australian Captain Kim Hughes said of Brearley 'He had a degree in people.' No better tribute can be paid to Brearley. I met Brearley a few years ago at a speech he was giving about Psychotherapy. He is larger than life. Such a unique individual.
