It doesn't make sense, but this event exists now purely as a vehicle for the bookies to lay bets.

Should be. But aren't.
If people bet money on it enough for them to make profit, bookies aren't going to worry if it's fair or moral. They only care about that when it's them being screwed.

It's a rubbish event, and we want rid of it.
But, it'll exist for as Long as the bookies say so.
