Tournament Winners: Ranking titles + Masters Titles

Postby Pink Ball

People often cite the ranking titles list as a good indicator of where players stand in the all-time pecking order. But this list doesn't include wins at The Masters, which most fans regard as being more prestigious than almost all ranking events.

Here's how the list would look if Masters titles were included.

2  Stephen Hendry 42 (Plus 6)
3  John Higgins 32 (Plus 2)

Good thread mate! <ok>

Yes The Masters is by far Ronnie's most sucessful tournament, PL doesn't come into this equation.

Hopefully he can be the outright leader of one of the TC events by winning a 7th Masters Title. That would be very satisfying, and would put Hendry the leader of WCs, Davis on UKs and Ronnie on Masters titles.

Yes. that would be really great and it would be a nice reflection. Hendry has always played his best Snooker in the World Championship. And Davis probably did at the UK, getting to 10 finals (2 more than in the World Championship) and Ronnie definitely has played his best Snooker in the Masters. 12 Masters finals in comparison to 6 world and uk finals sums it up and says everything.

The three greatest players of all time, and everyone has his favourite (own) triple crown tournament.

The Masters has always been a very special tournament to Ronnie. He loves the format, the city and the prestige. Hopefully Ronnie can win that record breaking 7th title tomorrow.

Lads are sort of governing that number. Nothing wrong with that. It doesn´t make much difference how big is that number. Double it, and absolutely no problem. Just many people having a way too big ego. There´s always room form a bigger number in this world. And still absolutely no problem. There´s no such thing as infinity. Or the eternity. But there´s still much room for a bigger number. Or numbers.

You may have heard the expression ‘the ego is not your amigo’ - another favourite of the social network spiritual warriors and there’s a book of the same name.

Let’s get this straight. You need to make friends with your ego. Without it, you wouldn’t do anything. How do you think I got to be stood up here today? It was my ego what did it, not me.

The Chimp Paradox teaches you in very simple steps how to manage your inner chimp, your ego. It shows you how to unlearn those stymieing pre-learned behavioural patterns that snaffle your life at every turn. Worry, anger, I'm the victim, poor me – this is all the ego misfiring and its devious tricks. When you are in a tricky or conflict situation – the first response that pops into your head is driven by your ego, your inner chimp that you need to manage, keep in its box. Your ego wants to win at all costs. Anger only gets you more anger. Be non-reactive (more on this key way of being later.) Wait a few seconds before speaking and a second thought will form – and this is you. Not your chimp. Listen to it and act on it.

Your ego should be your sheepdog and not your shepherd. You need it – it’s your life force and it gets rubbish done: without it you wouldn’t do anything; just make sure it’s not making decisions for you.
