Its a 3 way battle to end the season as WORLD NUMBER 1.
Trump is currenty number 1 but lost in round 1 today in the china open and has more points to defend than Selby and Robertson at the worlds.
Selby is 2nd currently and Robertson 3rd but the points gap is small between all 3.
Who do you think will be the WN1 after the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ?

Just shows how crap the ranking system is. Everyone knows O'Sullivan is the best player in the world so the rankings are largely irrelevant.

O'Sullivan has won four times as many world titles as the dismal Robbo.
And, though it's generally agreed Ronnie has under-achieved in his career, that still makes him four times as good as the over-rated Aussie.

But how many of those were in a two year period? If we're going by all time achievements, We'd have a top3 of Davis, Hendry and Reardon.

Hendry has almost won Double the World Titles Ronnie has but that's in the past just like April 2012 is been and gone and put in to History

No, Trump is much the better of the two. He has plenty of time to match Robbo's one world title. Though it's unlikely he'll ever have the sort of easy run that Robbo did in 2010.

yup Muppet said something about Ronnie being the Best player in the World.
the problem with that is dont you have to play to be called a Player?

The status of 'best player in the world' is something that is earned over many years. It doesn't go away just because someone decides to take a break.
And rankings are, by and large, a load of bullocks. Who cares who the WN1 is? Hendry got to WN1 in 2007, for all the good that it did him, he was still an also ran.
no Status of Best Player comes with Playing.
History counts for nothing its here and Now.

Bloody Hells Bells
You have changed wild,I mean that in a good way.
And yes to here and now,The Rankings will not frighten Ronnie he is too good not to get back inside top 10 fairly quickly.
if he fails to shine straight away after his comeback he will do damage in matches to get there eventually,I have no doubt there.

Surely though, at this stage of the season the players are more interested whether they win The Crucible than anything else.

Worlds is priority but given the large number of tournies each season end of season WN1 is a good honour
