if he can win his next 2 qualifiers he will have a good foundation to build from but he needs a few more last 16s and quarter finals next season to get there.......i think on form he is more than capable...but he cant sustain it, against Allen in wales he was marmite after solidly beating Robbo in the last 32.
yea but you must remember regarding that 10,000 points he only won 920 points from the PTC Last season so when players around him will get 6,000 to 7,000 PTC Points deducted during next season Hendry will be catching up.
true but you also gotta remember last season he pretty much won his opening round in all events so hes got last 16 points in the rankers to come off, so whilst he will make up points in the PTC, hes really going to have to up it big time in the main rankers to be in with a chance.
ill be honest, i cant see him getting back into the top 16. he might have the odd good run in a tourny like Davis did in his later career but i cant see any consistency with Hendry anymore which is what hed need to get back in.
i agree with that but hes starting to come to terms with the PTC so with 920 to come off and x amount to go on he might gain there but as pointed out by me above he will need to get some quarters to stand a chance but he wont be droping out of the top 32 any time soon though.

i fear for Ebdon now i must admit
he could easy drop out of the top 48 next season the way the points situation and his dire form is.
Infact even dropping off tour at the end of next season aint totally unrealsitic given i think hes down at something like 73 on the one year rankings

TBH id rather they left the crucible qualifiers draw until after the china Open ......lets concentrate on rest of season before starting fannying about who gets who and all that rubbish at the Badminton Hall.
Draw 2nd of April Quals start 4th.

China Open semi final and World Championship quarter final points have come off.
Brutal!
no it aint, its FAIR
the rolling rankings are always based on the most recent 2 years results so since start of last season 15 players have earned more points than him
It's brutal for him, although it is all very tight. he could easily finish the season 9th or 10th. The top 8 would have to be the target but that looks really tough at the minute. He was one match away from getting to the PTC finals - he might regret that now.

yeh everytime i think about this i just think what a cockerel up not having a new rankings window start now for the WC and end after the China Open just before the WC qualifiers start.
So obvious the events before the WC are going to be overshadowed by the pre-WC hype and everyone more intersted in focusing for the big one. Which will no doubt lead to loads of shock results too.
Even H*ndon is starting to hype up the World Champs already

Totally Agree with Witz..
Hyping the World Championship with 2 Major Events like the World and China Open to come is recipe for Bollocksville Sponsors wont want interviews in their Events Focusing on Betfred World Championship.
Lets Keep it real Play for a Crucible Spot then Ronnie would be in the World Open maybe ill or not ?

Last year we knew the draw at least 2 -3 weeks before the Crucible.

of course he would
by all accounts hes been ill the last few months but has played on and ironically produced his best form in a while, so im sure if he had to go to China for rankings purposes he would.

Nothing away from other world number 1:s, but I think that Selby is the most convincing and deserving world number 1 since Hendry in the 90´s. During the last season I predicted here that Selby will be number 1 soon and will be long time, and GJ answered that sorry no and had some statistic explanation.. Probably he was just his usual Robertson biased
. But sorry Yes, that good Selby just is. When going gets really tough, Selby is the man to make most difficult long pots and pressure shots. And he is the man to win frames from unpromising positions and has a deserved reputation of being decider specialists.
No matter how many 147s players make per day or what shots Trumps and Robertsons make when practising, it´s a different story to go play in arenas competive with big crowds and bets. Selby has the same bottle Hendry had in the 90´s.

I'm a Selby fan and trust me he isn't. In the end the World no1 needs to win things. There's no way he's a more convincing no1 than Higgins, Williams or O'Sullivan. Bottle on it's own is useless if the other guy completelt outplays you. Robertson deserved to be no1 when he was because he had won the Grand Prox, World Open and World Championship, more than anyone else had in that period.

no 1 deserves to be no 1 because they won more matches than any one else...
people are confusing the issue here
NO 1= Consistancy
Winning Titles = Greatness
if you win tournaments consistancy you will be No 1 = Davis and Hendry
todays players dont do that hence Selby is consistant enough for no 1.

wrong Wild
Selby as No.1 = a flawed ranking system
the world number 1 should be someone who theres no debate over them being the best
Selby isnt exactly being respected and acknowledged as the best is he...............because he ISNT
its clear that the points tariffs for tournaments are all wrong when Selbys so clear in front of the pack

I'm not desputing that Selby deserves to be no1, I'm disputing that Selby is the most deserving no1 since Hendry. Nowhere near, considering the likes of Higgins, MJW, Ronnie and Robbo were also no1 between now and Hendry's dominance.

mind your language
you sound like a git whos drunk a lot of beer
winners arent rewarded enough in the rankings under the current flawed system
over the last 2 years YOU KNOW WHO and Judd and even Jono are more worthy number 1's than Wiggy.
infact the only number 1 Selby should have is a number 1 haircut. Instead hes done a Rooney

id rather consistant quarter finalist no 1 than someone who wins here then goes missing for few events.

if there was more of an incentive for winning then maybe the tour wouldnt be full of players happy to settle for just winning a few games here and there.

I don't think the top players are settling for a few games here and there, they get outplayed and beaten when they get outplayed and beaten. They don't decide to reach a quarter final and then give up.

There's a system in place (flawed or not) and Selby is top on merit, going by the points allocations and what he's won. I'd be more convinced he was the true no.1 however, if over the last 2 seasons:
- O'Sullivan hadn't withdrawn from anything
- Higgins wasn't banned from anything
- Ding actually tried in the PTC's

exactly
hes talking like selby wants to win nothing
hes there on merit now Judd with his consistancy of winning events is catching up ...No Matter how consistant a Quarter Finalist/Semi Finalist Selby is if someone Consistantly wins Tournaments They will be No 1.

Judd and consistency? This season he's only one event. Aside from the UK, he hasn't got past the quarters in any main rankers. The consistency man this season is Murphy.

but in the 2 year cycle Judd has 2 rankers, 3 PTC and a World Final. hence hes closing the gap on selby at the top.
